Student Orgs Bulletin

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.

January 22-28, 2017

I publish these bulletins each week to keep all student org leaders and advisors updated on STARS stuff, frequently asked questions, and other important info to help you run a successful student org. If there's a topic you think I should cover, let me know!

Need to Know

STARS Coordinators & Curriculum

Due to leadership transitions or other reason, some of you may have new STARS Coordinators for the semester. Since the STARS Curriculum is linked to an individual student's Owl Connect profile instead of an organization's profile, you'll need our help to migrate the data of your STARS progress.

Please make sure to update your org's Roster to reflect the new STARS Coordinator. Send Student Activities an email about the change providing the name of the outgoing STARS Coordinator and the new STARS Coordinator. Please note the change isn't automatic and STARS credit must be transitioned manually, so your patience is appreciated!

To help the transition on your end, here are some helpful resources to get the new person up to speed!

  • STARS Curriculum Training TODAY! FROM 2-3 PM in Student Center 217B
  • STARS Website. Check out the interactive tabs on the Challenges + Rewards page!
  • Student Org Basics Training, Thursday, February 16 from 2:30-5 PM in Student Center 217B (Intended for new orgs, but existing orgs are welcome if they have new officers or just need a refresher)

Nice to Know

WebEx for Org Meetings

I often hear student org leaders say it's hard to find a time where everyone on their executive board can meet. I'm a big fan of using technology to overcome challengeslike this. I copied this info from a recent TechBits email from Computer Services because you can totally use WebEx to help facilitate e-board meetings!

WebEx offers students the convenience of meeting with classmates online to complete group projects. This is also an excellent resource to keep in mind this winter. In lieu of canceling class due to weather, consider scheduling the class online using this free web conferencing service.

For more technology resources available for students, check out the Technology at Temple Guide. If you have any questions, please contact the Help Desk through the Request Help/Service tab on the cs.temple.edu home page. You can also call 215-204-8000.
