Message from Mr. McCracken
THANK YOU to everyone that participated in our PAWS fundraiser! I can't wait to see all of the flags proudly displayed during the week of Veteran's Day. Our Veteran's Day Assembly will be held on Monday, November 11th at 8:00. If you know a veteran or current service member, please invite them to attend. We have limited seating, which we will reserve for veterans and current military members, but we want you all to be able to share in the experience so we will be showing the assembly on Facebook live.
Go Panthers.
Mr. McCracken

Health Bulletin
Flu season is just around the corner and I want everyone to avoid illness by following these simple lifestyle habits. To help decrease the number of staff and students becoming ill with the flu or other illness over the winter, nurse Legatt and the teaching staff recommend washing hands frequently with soap and water (hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available) and coughing into the arm or elbow instead of the hands. I also encourage healthy habits such as exercise, adequate sleep, and drinking lots of water every day. Healthy foods help the immune system fight the good fight as well as getting your annual flu shot, another proven method to reduce the risk of getting the flu. Avoid touching your face (yes, including the eyes) to reduce the chance of picking up unwanted germs. The flu virus infects the cells of the respiratory tract and is easily spread when people are gathered in close quarters, like when kids are gathered in their classrooms. More information concerning the prevalence of flu is found on the CDC website.
It is more important than ever to stay healthy and continue to wash hands and stay away from the germs that cause the flu. Current recommendations from the JOCO Health Department, KDHE, & USD 232 recommends exclusion from school for diagnosed influenza for 5 days following the onset of symptoms. That means taking the steps to avoid the flu will become more important than ever and will lead to less days being home from illness.
Let us be diligent this flu season by washing our hands, getting plenty of rest and water, and getting a flu shot this year. If we follow these recommendations and encourage our kids to do these things, we should all breathe just a bit easier this flu season.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the school nurse.
Thank you,
Laura Legatt, RN LTMS School Nurse
