Miss Amann's Weekly News
March 3-7, 2014
Learning, learning all week long. Read and find out what we've done!
Hello Second Grade Families! I hope this newsletter finds you all doing well! We've had a busy two weeks! Thank you so much for all of the shoe donations! We are really working hard to earn the pizza party. Shoes can be brought in until March 21st. I have noticed some full Take Home folders. Please help your child by cleaning this out each night. It really helps to keep them organized. March is our last month for Book-It. I am hoping for at least 20 minutes of reading each night. Thank you for your support with this. Up until this point I haven't sent very much extra homework (meaning more than just practicing facts and reading). I would love some feedback on this. As parents, would you like to see more homework coming home? Thanks for your attention to this.
Reading
In reading we are just wrapping up making inferences. I find that the students can make great inferences, usually when they don't realize what they are doing! Next week, we will be moving into text features of fiction and non-fiction books. We continue to work on our AR goals. I am so proud off all the students and the hard work they are putting into meeting their goals. Please keep in mind that students chose what their goals would be for this quarter. We have until March 28th!
