Before and After School Program
Learning and fun continues in Varsity Club, our before and after school program. Our well-balanced curriculum, Building the Primary Classroom, encourages imagination, builds pride, and offers new challenges. It provides opportunities for academic success, while children gain knowledge in core subject areas. By promoting a positive classroom culture, our curriculum allows children to experience new adventures, which inspires a lifelong love of learning and exploration.
The curriculum objectives are the heart of the Building the Primary Classroom program and define the path teachers take with students in their classroom. They inform every aspect of teaching, include predictors of school success, and are aligned with Common Core State Standards. The objectives cover 6 areas of development and learning, including broad developmental and content areas. Many of the objectives also include examples that guide teachers’ thinking about various aspects of that objective, and help to clarify what it addresses.
Anti-Bully Campaign
Rainbow Child Care Center understands the importance of creating a safe and secure environment, where children feel comfortable to take appropriate risks. Our curriculum, Building the Primary Classroom®, has an overarching goal to create a positive environment and community in the classroom.
All Varsity Club children will take an Anti-Bully Pledge and review the expectations in the classroom. Each student will sign the class pledge poster that will remain in the classroom as a visual reminder and receive a pledge card to keep. They will also get an anti-bully bracelet to wear and serve as a reminder of how to be a good friend.
Student Advisory Committee
Students will become more empowered in their classroom community, by participating in Student Advisory Committee groups. These groups will meet once a week and focus on various aspects of the classroom and the community in which the children live. Students will be able to discuss, problem solve and develop conflict resolution skills to work through the rights and responsibilities of each member of the classroom, decide how to effectively use classroom resources, and strengthen their leadership skills.
Kids of Character-Courageous
Teach your students about being courageous by giving him/her opportunities to try new things and face fears, and encouraging his/her abilities. Support each students curiosity and make sure actions are safe, but allow him/her to break comfort boundaries by being brave. Courage can be physical, like jumping from a diving board, or moral, like doing the right thing in the face of possible ridicule.
Earn Your Letter
These cards focus on four different areas of learning: Arts and Sciences, Community Service, Language Arts, and Health and Fitness. Your child will complete thoughtful tasks relating to each of these domains as they work to get 10 punches on their card. When your child has successfully completed 10 tasks, they will receive a bracelet for their accomplishment.
Brain Busters
Each card holds a question on the front and answers on the back. The questions are theme based and correspond with the curriculum that are engaged in for each month. Combining Brain Buster Cards with hands on classroom activities that engage your child's senses will help them become engaged and learn through exploration.
Journals
Journals
At Rainbow Child Care Center, we believe in combining classroom activities that promote fine-motor skills, and muscle strengthening and control. We practice writing and drawing through journals, and choose classroom activities such as play-dough, and daily routine activities such as snack time, to work on the muscles that create great writers.
Enrichment Programs
Ready, Set, GROW! Fit Foundations
The Ready, Set, GROW! Fit Foundations curriculum blends educational concepts promoting health and fitness. Hands-on experiences inspire Healthy Beginnings by providing activities and games designed to support muscle development, coordination, and manipulative skills and to help children master basic physical skills. With the ability to utilize our state-of-the-art gymnasiums and playgrounds, our programming is consistent and year-round.
Language Immersion Spanish
Our Language Immersion Spanish curriculum balances fun and learning while offering children opportunities to expand their language development. Through thoughtfully designed activities and a strong literature component, your child will be exposed to a second language as their teachers use a combination of different strategies to make learning memorable and enjoyable.
