HSE's Dhruv M. (6th grade) earned 4th place in the MathLeague state championship and qualified for the national championships. Congratulations to him, his family, and our Math department. Best wishes at the Nationals. Go get it, Dhruv!
Sometimes teachers need a little boost on testing days - and the Al Anbagi family gave us just the lift we needed! Thank you!
On the last day of Teacher Appreciation Week, our Harmony School of Excellence PTO gave to us... Chick-fil-A 290 & Jones Road gift cards! Some lucky teachers even won amazon goodies playing the punch-out game ala The Price Is Right! So thoughtful and so fun!
Go Tigers! They routed the other team in their first playoff game, 15-7. Next game is Monday at Bear Creek. Congratulations!

eCYBERMISSION SUCCESS STORY
Harmony School of Excellence-Houston 6th Graders Earn Honorable Mention in South Central Region at eCybermission STEM Competition:
Tech4Life team members Dhruv M., Mark E, and Shane J. tackled the issue of health and fitness in a sedentary world by creating a mobile pedal mechanism that attaches to chairs in order to create an opportunity to increase activity while sitting. This project qualified them for the South Central Regional finalists and earned them an overall third-place award.
“Obesity is a growing problem that can lead to diabetes, joint problems, mental health issues, and maybe even life threatening situations,” the team says. “Maintaining a healthy lifestyle requires a healthy diet and daily exercise. The most common reason for not following through on going to the gym are lack of motivation and time.Gym passes, treadmills, exercise bikes, can be $150 and up. In order to try to solve these problems we came up with a product that is cheap, easy to use, transportable, effective to reduce weight, and usable during at-home work. Our product will help you get fit by getting you active. But, there is a twist, this product is usable while doing work!”
Sponsored by the U.S. Army Educational Outreach Program, eCYBERMISSION is a nationwide, web-based STEM competition for students in grades six through nine that promotes self-discovery and enables all students to recognize the real-life applications of STEM. Teams are instructed to design and construct solutions based on identified problems in their community.
“This was our first year mentoring students in the eCYBERMISSION competition and I truly appreciated how this challenge not only allows participants to be creative while developing inventive solutions to community issues, but also encourages teamwork and collaboration in problem-solving - a lifelong skill that will benefit students throughout their academic and vocational careers. I am grateful we are able to bring this opportunity to all of our middle school students,” says their Science teacher, Mrs. Dana Farrar. “These kids worked diligently both in and out of school to make their project successful - I am very proud of their accomplishments and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them”

PBA Distribution Announcement
Students have shown the different core values and they deserve to be rewarded. HSE does not only motivate our scholars extrinsically but we teach and encourage our students to embrace and practice our school core values and be motivated to do so intrinsically.
HSE will reward students who have reached 200 and up points. Our maximum number of points is 3,000. Every range of points (ex. 200-290, 300-390 etc.) falls under a category that has a list of prizes. Students get to pick a prize from their category list.
HSE PBA PRIZE DISTRIBUTION FORM will be emailed to the parents and should be filled out by the end of this week, May 7th at 11:59 pm.
It is a very simple process. If you receive an email from me this week, your scholar is qualified to claim the PBA prize.
