Newsletter Term 2 Week 9
Patumahoe School 30th June 2021
Principal's Desk
Nga mihi nui to all of our families who attended the parent-teacher interviews. I trust a clear learning pathway has been set for the remainder of the year.
Next week is the final week of the term and it is a big one. It is Matariki Week here and all of our tamariki will be involved in various te ao Maori activities, the week culminates in a hakari (shared kai) on Friday where we ask each whanau to provide a plate of kai. Carrying on the traditions of this hakari, we welcome kai unique to your culture as we see the week as a celebration of all cultures in our school (I particularly enjoyed the samosa, beef and taro, and chop suey last year). We also have a special assembly in the afternoon following the hakari.
We welcome Sandy Van Lieshout to the team. Sandy has stepped up to take on the caretaker responsibilities while Ngaire Jamieson is away on medical leave.
A reminder that next Wednesday is a short day due to an NZEI Teachers Union meeting. School closes for instruction at 12.30pm. There is an information slip coming home today that we need each family to complete and return to the classroom teacher in order to know of every child's movements.
We have some confirmed details for next week's Caretakers Cup Rugby Challenge. It is on Thursday the 8th of July at Pukekohe Hill School. The girls game will kick off at 12pm with the boys game kicking off at 12.30pm. This will be a very big occasion and any interested spectators are welcome to watch. We will need all the support we can get.
Stay warm and healthy

PJ Day
This Friday we are having a PJ Day (pajama day). Children can wear their PJ’s to school for the day. This is to promote us being a drop off point for Jammies in June- an initiative set up to provide PJ’s to sick and/or needy children at Middlemore Hospital.
Please either bring a new pair of PJ’s or a gold coin donation (koha) for us to pass on to the hospital.
Thank you for your continued support
