Women's History Month
March 17th - Brought to you by the Women’s Studies class and Katie Notch
Today in Women’s History month, we are featuring Shirley Raines. Shirley Raines, who was named CNN’s 2021 Hero of the Year and deservedly so, is the founder of the non-profit organization “Beauty 2 the Streetz”. Starting around 8 years ago, this organization provides food, water, and hygiene supplies to the homeless people of Los Angeles. Shirley uses her widespread platform on Instagram and TikTok to bring awareness to the struggles and hardships of the homeless population, and to show her some 4 million viewers that you never know what someone is going through, while also helping the less fortunate see the worth in themselves with a haircut, warm meal, or hug.
