Senior Spotlight: Lucas Brenner
Congratulations to Riviera Senior, Lucas Brenner, for his basketball commitment to Division III Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. When interviewed, Lucas said, “ I really enjoy the vibe of the school. It’s not so big; it’s a super close group; and that’s what I like in a college." Although Lucas Brenner has not visited the campus, he is already fond of the coaches and is very excited to study one of their popular majors, sports communication. “Emerson has sort of an underground pathway to the NBA. Since there are so many Emerson alumni who are in the NBA, there are a lot of connections Emerson can pull for me to one day actually be a coach in the NBA." By the looks of it, Lucas Brenner is extremely thrilled to start his future at Emerson. The Riviera family is extremely proud of his accomplishments and wishes him the absolute best of luck.

Biomed At Riviera
The Biomedical Sciences Program at Riviera teaches students college-level medical lessons. The purpose of it is to introduce our students to the medical field and perhaps spark their interest in various careers in medicine. Last week, students in the year three Biomed class, Medical Interventions, learned all about cancer. Each student searched for information regarding the differences between normal cells and cancer cells. After their research, they performed a cell lab which entailed rehydrating normal cells and cancer cells and comparing them under a microscope. The students then saw the differences between the cell shape and the number of cells. Jenna Weber, states, “This lab made the cancer lesson easy to understand. I felt like a doctor while looking at the cells through the microscope.” Students are very excited to see what experiments they will encounter in this first-class educational program.

Ingenious Bulldogs: Biomes with Ms. Gonzalez
Ms. Gonzalez, the 7th grade Life Science teacher, brings her lessons to real life at the Prep campus through her engaging project “Biome in a Box." These students completed a project in which they learned about the different biomes of the world as they studied a chapter on ecology. Each student had to do their own independent research on the biomes and later present their models to their peers. To create these models, students had to use a variety of materials to create a biome in a shoebox. Below are pictures of some of the mini masterpieces the students created!
