Girl Scout Troop 363
Meetings every Wednesday @ Hilltop Methodist Church 6-7 PM
Whole Troop News
- Thank you to all the parents who have already filled out the medical release forms and paid dues - you guys ROCK!
- For those of you who didn't fill out the forms, you can find them posted on the Facebook page, or I will attach it to the email with the link to this newsletter. Also, I will have the blank ones at our meeting next week, so you can fill them out there, too.
- Please try to be on time for meetings. I am going to set my alarm again this year for exactly 6, and I will get started right then. I would love to have all the girls there to participate in the opening routine.
Important Troop Dates
- September 28th - World Vision Service Project
- October 5th - Cornbelly's Outing
- November 16th - Thanksgiving celebration
- December 14th - Caroling
- January 4th - Cookie Rally
- May 6th - Mother/Daughter Tea
- June 7th - End of the Year Celebration
Dues
- Why dues? The dues you pay will help us to participate in activities, make crafts, and buy badges/patches/awards for all of the scouts. We also use the money to help make our celebrations special with a treat and some inexpensive decoration. We do try to keep our expenditures to a minimum.
- How much? This year we are asking for $120 per girl. That is a little less than $15/month.
- What about snacks? We have decided to NOT do regular weekly snacks this year. This makes clean-up easier, is easier to schedule, and we won't have to worry as much about loading up our girls with sugar just before bedtime! We will still have special treats when we have special activities, but the troop will take care of those.
- How do we pay? We are asking for 2 payments this year (rather than monthly) to make it easier to remember and collect. Want it even easier? If you pay the for the entire year before September 30th, we'll take $10 off!
- When do we pay? If you choose to pay in 2 payments, please pay $60 by September 30th and the remaining $60 by January 31st.
- Where do we pay? You can make a check out to Girl Scout Troop 363 or if you would like to pay via PayPal, please use "send money to a friend" at hilltoptroop363@gmail.com.
- What if I can't pay that much? We do NOT want to have a girl not participate for this reason. Just talk to Grace Acosta privately, and we are more than happy to make accommodations.
- What if i have other questions? Contact Grace Acosta at graceacostamail@yahoo.com or 801-699-0550.
Daisy Doings
Daisys and Brownies went on a hike tonight and Granite Park and had a lot of fun! We learned how to tell which way is North, South, East, and West; we even pretended to be bees giving directions to the hive! On our hike we found items on our scavenger list and used our five senses to describe what we experienced.

The Brownies will be earning a second patch, along with the hiking patch. The girls were sent home with the requirements for the second patch, Outdoor Art Creator. They have some homework they need to bring to our meeting next week to ensure they receive this patch. At the back of their packet are some blank pages. The girls can use those pages to complete steps 2 & 4 (creating art with nature). Step 5 is something they can do at home, but will need to tell us about what they did when we meet next week. We'll use the first couple minutes of our meeting next week to see their nature creations and talk about what they did for step 5. We look forward to seeing their creations!!

Junior Journeys
The first year jJuniors started learning about what it means to be a Junior which will lead to their Girl Scout Way Badge!
Second year Juniors talked about their Bronze award, what it means, etc. We talked about a few different ideas and they chose to help out an animal shelter. One scout is in charge of finding a shelter and calling to see what donations would really help and seeing if there are volunteering opportunities. Another is in charge of creating a flyer for donations they will be collecting and all the girls are going to start collecting material scraps to make beds/mats, toys etc. We can get a couple dates in mind for volunteering and see what works for all the girls. They were really in to this and I think they had fun talking about all the problems in our community!
9/21 - Learn to crochet/knit/loom
9/28 - World Vision Service Project
One Girl Scout can make a difference, but together we can ROCK the world!
