Dear FSS Staff,
I hope you had a chance to look at and calendar the Mini PD days Yvette has shared with you. This is a great way to grow a deeper understanding in areas. Please let Yvette and James know if there is something you would like more info./training on.
Our Math WIG is wildly out of control. Students are meeting the challenge faster than anyone expected. Thank you for taking the time to practice. We are ready to roll out our ELA WIG. We will want these up and monitored by 10/16. The Lighthouse team will send you the exact wording for the ELA WIG.
Thank you for the dialogue you had with your grade level about where to post standards. I know you will find the best way to post the ones you are currently teaching from, just be sure they are large enough to be seen from anywhere in your room.
I hope you enjoy meeting with families this week. I know how much they appreciate the work you do and trust you so much. Now that I have a first grader, I know how nerve-wracking it is to go in to your child's classroom and hear the teacher talk about your baby. Use the OREO method: start with something sweet, then share the challenges their child is having and what you will do to support them and then end the conversation with more sweetness. Works like a charm.
Fondly,
Stephenie

Positive Trends:
Eric was so impressed with the cohesiveness he saw in the upper grades. He could clearly see the alignment with the standards being taught.
Our team from Arcadia was deeply moved by our primary grades and how articulate and poised our students were.
Refinement:
Continue to work to meet with small groups M, T, TH and F while you have intervention support with you.
Word standards and objectives in ways that students can own and connect to with out simplifying them too much.
Rethink the use of packets for seat work. Is this the best way to practice and reinforce a standard? Taking the concept to writing will help the student have to think through the work at a deeper level.
