Principal's Message
This week was filled with more great opportunities for our students. The LA Rams Girl’s Football Clinic was a big success and thank you to the LA Rams, Coach Collins and the PE department, and all the staff who helped/supported this opportunity for our students. Our Dream Big and YGT members had a great time on their field trip to UCLA and thank you to Mrs. Santana and Dr. McCloyn for providing this experience for our students. Our Girls' Track and Field Team had a great showing Wednesday night at the All-City Track and Field event at Wilson HS and congratulations to all our students who participated as well as to those who ribboned.
As a reminder, daily attendance, including showing up to class on time supports the academic success of our students. Parents, you have the ability to see your child's daily attendance through ParentVUE and we encourage each of you to monitor your child's attendance as part of their academic support.

Students Leaving Early (Early Outs)
When you know you are picking up your student early, please avoid the student lunch time and PE class. We are unable to call for students once they are dismissed to lunch and cannot allow adults to walk on campus. During PE classes, there is not always an available adult to let the students in to the locker room to obtain their belongings. Additionally, you are welcome to notify the office about the early out ahead of time and we can let the PE teacher and student know to keep their items with them during that time. Thank you for your help and understanding.

Hughes Guidelines for Success
Hughes - A Green Ribbon School
Reusable Water Bottles: We encourage all students to bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated and reduce our plastic waste.
Clean and Green: As a Green School, our students should not litter on or around campus. Please make sure that all items are thrown away and that we also pick up trash that we see when walking or sitting by it. When we ignore trash on the ground, we are saying that we are OK with trash on the ground, and that's not the Hughes way!
Walk, Bike, Carpool: To minimize the amount of CO2 we add to our environment as well as noise pollution from traffic, we encourage all our students to walk, bike, or carpool to school, when possible.
Join the Hughes PTA! Our goal is for our entire school community to be members!
