Facts about Puerto Rico
The capital of Puerto Rico is San Juan. The population is roughly 3.7 million. Puerto Rico was deemed a US Territory as a result of the Spanish-American War. Puerto Ricans were officially granted citizenship to the US in 1917. They do not vote, but they have a governor which serves a 4 year term. They have US Currency, and you can just fly there without a passport. Puerto Rican's favorite sport is Baseball despite popular belief. The representative animal is the Coqui which is a frog. Puerto Rico also means "Rich Port."
Music, Dance, and Food!
Bomba y Plena and the Salsa are popular music and dance crazes in Puerto Rico. Popular seasonings include: coriander, papaya, cacao, nispero, apio, plantains, and yampee. Other popular main dishes are adobo and sofrito. Tostones are also very tasty and popular in Puerto Rico. They are fried plantains. (firm bananas)
