Carroll Library

2013-14

Hi Carroll Parents!

Its hard to believe that we are already into the second grading period! The school year is zipping by, and I realized that I haven't invited the Carroll family to browse the Carroll Library website. You can access it here. This resource has valuable information like frequently asked questions and book reviews, but I wanted to take the time to highlight a few things below.

Library Programs

Bluebonnet Books: "Read 5 Then Decide"

Third, fourth, and fifth graders must read 5 of the 20 Bluebonnets books and complete a survey for each book in order to be eligible to vote for their favorite Bluebonnet book. Voting takes place in January, so there is still plenty of time to read! The state collects students' votes and announces the winner in February. Students who vote will be invited to hear the results!

2x2 Reading Program

These 20 titles are geared for students in Kindergarten through second grade. Many of the titles will be read to students during their weekly library time, but they are also available for check out. In the spring, these students will be able to vote for their favorite 2x2 book. It will be fun to see which 2x2 book is Carroll's favorite!

Birthday Club

Don't know what to give your student for their special day? Try donating a library book in his/her honor!

Your student can select a favorite book in the library in which to have a name plate placed in it with his/her name. To join, contribute $10 to Funds4Books, note your student's name, and specify that the contribution is for the Birthday Club. I will then ask your student to select his/her special book.

If your student's birthday has already past, you can still surprise your reader with a birthday club book as you can make a donation throughout the school year. All funds raised are used for ordering new books.

Fall Book Fair

December 2-6, 2013

The Fall Book Fair is just in time for holiday gift giving! Choose from children's favorites to cookbooks and easy readers to advanced readers. More information from our wonderful PTA will be going home with your student soon - stay tuned!
