Fall Field Trip to Conner Prairie
Parent Teacher Conferences
Dear Parents,
I look forward to meeting with you during your scheduled conference time. Remember to bring your child with you as they have been preparing to lead the conference. We will work hard at keeping our conferences within the 15 minutes time allotment.
Book Fair is here!

Art to Remember
What's Happening This Week?
· Writer's Workshop: Our goal was to have our personal narratives finished by the end of the quarter. As I conferred with students I realized that they were not ready to be published and needed a little more work. We will continue to work on our stories this week.
· Reader's Workshop: This week, the class will be discussing the setting of the story and how this can be time and place. More importantly we will be discussing the question, "How does changing the setting change the story?"
· Math Workshop: Last week we started a math project that gave students a budget of $50. They are shopping in on-line ads to find items they'd like to buy. They have to estimate as they go to make sure they don't go over their budget. We will finish the project this week and begin discussing addition and subtraction - estimating sums and differences, regrouping, and working with larger numbers.
· Social Studies: We will continue to read about communities and how our community compares to others around us.

Internet and Social Media Safety
HSE Schools is proud to partner with the Fishers Police Department to bring you an information session about internet and social media safety. The parents-only, face-to-face session is one hour, from 7:00-8:00 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 19th at Fishers High School in Café A. Please enter the building using door FH1 or FH7. Content presented will include: iPad restrictions and recommendations, general practices regarding protecting your child at home, using commonsensemedia.org, and safety in using social media.
While this content is applicable to families with students in grades 5-12 who are currently 1:1, the reality is that even our K-4 students have access to internet devices. All parents are more than welcome to attend.
Thank you for interest in digital citizenship and keeping our students safe. See you on Oct. 19th.
