Hello Foster Families
Hello Foster's Finest,
Winter is trying to break through over the last week. Please make sure children are dressed appropriately for outdoor recess. There were a few really cold mornings here and we want to be able to bring students outside as much as possible. That said, a totally sunny weekend appears to be in the works for this weekend and it will be a little bit warmer during the day. Finally a nice weekend.
We have been taking votes among the students this week to see what they think the new name of the school should be. I will be providing Dr. Adams with an update, but we did have some really nice ideas for the name of the school. Our top three names are Foster Elementary, William L. Foster Elementary School, and Harborside Elementary School. This information will be shared with the School Committee as they continue to go through the naming process for the new school.
Finally, I wanted to say a big thank you to each and every volunteer who supported the 'Trunk or Treat" event last Friday. Amazing is the word that pops into my head. It was hard to judge, but I can say that our students were the big winners!!!!!

Parent Pick-Up
Please remember to not stay on Downer Ave if the pick-up loop is full. The police department has asked that we stage overflow to the loop on Planter's Field Lane. One other thing that can help us immensely is if people could pull up (not in the crosswalk) as close as we can to fit as many vehicles into the loop as is possible. Your continued help is very appreciated.
Lego Club Newsletter
We had another great week of fun and learning at the Lego Club this week. There was a Halloween Theme. Please take a look at the weekly newsletter attached for more pictures and information.
ARTSONIA
This is from Mrs. McKeon, Foster School’s art teacher. Congratulations to the 4th grade classes, with 91% of families participating in Artsonia, the free student art portfolio site. 3rd (87%) and 5th (85%) are very close behind!
I love to start my day reading the lovely comments that are left for the children about their art, and so far this year, 62 compliments have been left. In the last 10 years, we’ve had over 66,500 people from all over the world visit our digital galleries.
If you haven’t joined yet, it is never too late! The art that I post will stay with your child long after they leave Foster. My goal is to upload 2 images from each child per term. Anything more is a bonus!
If you would like to approve and access your child’s portfolio:

HPS is Here to Help
We know that making ends meet can be difficult for some families in our HPS community. Therefore, we want to let you know that there are individuals in each of our schools who are ready to provide information and assistance. Resources may be available to help families in times of financial need, or other challenging situations. Our particular area of outreach at this time is for food support for the upcoming holidays. Please don’t hesitate to contact an administrator, the school nurse, or counseling personnel in your child's school if you are in need of food support for the holidays. Rest assured that your request will be managed in a way that respects your rights for confidentiality.
Pantry Donations
Let's pack the pantry! Foster School will be collecting donations for the Hingham Food Pantry all year. Right now, the pantry is in need of healthy cereal, pasta sauce, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti, canned tuna, and cookies. Please be sure to check that items are not expired before donating! There is a donation bin in the front lobby. Thank you for your generosity!
