Be Respectful. Be Responsible. Be Ready to Learn.

It was a FANTASTIC first week of school!

What a great week! It was a pleasure welcoming back all of our students to WCB! You could feel the excitement and positive energy throughout the building. Thank you to all of our families for their support as we opened a new school year.

As a reminder, we open our doors at 9:20 am. Please DO NOT drop your child off prior to that time as we do not have staff supervision prior to 9:20 am. All students may eat breakfast between 9:20 am - 9:40 am.

Students that are dropped off by car should either come through the car line that loops behind the building, or from the Loew parking lot. Please DO NOT drop students off on W. 32nd Street. It is not safe for them to cross the street where cars are exiting the drop-off line.

All students are dismissed on the playground side of the building. Please arrive no later than 4:05 to pick your child up.

See the information below about arrival and dismissal procedures. A hard copy of this policy should have come home with your child this week.

If you have not yet done so, please ensure that you complete your child's Student Emergency Form and return it to your child's teacher. It is extremely important that we have these returned to us ASAP.

At the bottom of this newsletter, you can find links to all of the important information that went home with students this week.

Emergency Drills

The safety and well-being of our students is our first priority. Over the course of the year, we will practice fire drills, tornado drills, and lockdown drills. Fire drills take place on a monthly basis, whereas tornado drills take place monthly beginning in April. We are required to do two formal lockdown drills per year, but may do more to ensure our school staff and students are prepared.

Please take some time to discuss the importance of these drills with your child(ren). We expect all of our students to follow the directives of school staff during the drills and to take them seriously. Students should remain calm and quiet during the drills, and adhere to staff directives. We practice these drills so that in the event of an emergency, all staff and students would know how to respond.

During the week of September 6, the CMSD Safety and Security team will visit our building to conduct a full-scale code red lockdown drill. We will inform parents immediately following the drill that it was just a drill. The purpose of this drill is to work with our school safety team to ensure the safety plans that we have in place are effective and adequate.

Please reach out with any questions that you may have.
