School Newsletter for Parents
For the week of February 15
Hello, Attea families!
Last week was a busy one with an Author Visit on Monday and MAP testing throughout the week. MAP testing continues this week with make-ups. The District's MAP testing window closes on February 26, and reports will be generated and shared with parents after that point.
This week starts off with a couple of significant calendar items. As you know, today is Presidents Day, but Feb. 15 also is Anthony Day, a commemorative holiday honoring the life and contributions of Susan B. Anthony. In addition to our normal weekly activities, we look forward to a PTA meeting on Tuesday night and a Principal Chat on Wednesday morning (see below for more information). More classroom and team information can be found in the grade level newsletters.

The rest of the newsletter provides informational updates and helpful reminders to parents about upcoming opportunities. As always, if you have questions or concerns, please contact us: Contact Attea Middle School.

.
What does Conference Teacher mean? In order to maximize opportunities for parents to conference, grade level teams establish conference groups of students, and each team teacher will be responsible for an individual set of students. The Conference Teacher provides parents with a report from each of the student’s core academic subjects. If you are interested in a conference with one of your child's PE, Fine Arts, or Global Language teachers, during a time outside the 8am - 3pm window, or if you are interested in more time with a specific teacher, you should contact the teacher(s) directly.
What if I don't feel a need to set up a conference? The Parent-Teacher Conference is a wonderful tradition that is valued by many parents because it provides a specific period of time when a conversation takes place about how to work together to help students reach their full potential. However, in these technology-filled times the Parent-Teacher Conferences is just one of many avenues to communicate with a child’s teacher(s) and to receive information about your her/his progress. Indeed, given the variety of information sharing options, some parents are in constant communication with teachers about their child and they feel intimately familiar with their child’s learning and growth. Accordingly, they decide that a separate face-to-face conference at the prescribed time is not necessary. Please know that Attea welcomes but does not necessarily expect all parents to schedule a conference on this particular day. The decision about whether or not to sign up for a conference is entirely up to you.
Next SP/AT PTA Meeting
The next middle school PTA meeting is on Tuesday evening at 6pm. The meeting will be held virtually, and the PTA will share a link to the meeting directly with parents. All are welcome. If you haven’t had the opportunity to connect with the PTA and would like more information about how to join, more information can be found at PTA's website.
5Essentials Parent Survey: we're up to 7.2% but...
...we need to get to 20% in order to receive any of the parent feedback at all. So far 57 surveys have been submitted, and we only need another 102 to be submitted to reach our threshold.
Of course, we'd like to get to 100% because we truly hope that all parents take the survey because it helps us learn about how we are doing as a school. The parent response goal of 20% is based on Attea's student enrollment, so a parent with more than one child at Attea can and should submit a survey for each child.
Here is a link for parents to take the survey: 5Essentials Parent Survey. It requires only 10 minutes or so to complete. How about taking it right now?
Principal Chat - February 17 @ 9am
“Principal Chats” are intended to give parents an opportunity to ask questions and/or share feedback about the school. There is no agenda, just an opportunity to talk informally about items of interest. All are welcome.
If you are interested in joining Tuesday's Chat, please email Mr. Richter at mrichter@glenview34.org and a Zoom link will be provided.
Hybrid student in-person attendance: We need to know
Additionally, if your child is signed up for Hybrid but your current plans are to keep her or him home indefinitely, please let us know that as well.
