Congratulations to our October Award Winners
McEowen Elementary students were recently honored at their first monthly assembly of the school year on Friday, Oct. 29. The school hosts a monthly Positive Action Assembly to recognize student accomplishments.
To begin the assembly, music teacher Alyssa Holsten played the National Anthem on the recorder.
The October Students of the Month were Hyde Smith, Avery Barker, Jaelin Jomwe, and Brooklyn Cecil. Students of the Month are nominated by their classroom teacher and receive t-shirts sponsored by the Harrisonville Police Department.
Each month, McEowen students who exhibit the character education trait of the month are honored. October’s trait was empathy and those students receiving the Terrific Kids Award from the Harrisonville Kiwanis Club were FRONT ROW: Addi Goddard, Ferrah Bruce, Maggie Peterman,Gauge McCracken, Emma Lengemann, Kenna Nutter, and Sophia Schneider; and BACK ROW: William Guentert, Brody Monrean, Aiden SHarp, Maci Burnett, Madilynn Feece, Pyper Trussell, Bailey Deardorff, and Jace Dickens.
Students are also recognized for writing, math, and reading at each Positive Action Assembly. Those October honorees for math were FRONT ROW: Trenton Lindsay, Gavyn Gutjahr, Kinze Moreland, Bradley Thornton, and Drake Dubray and BACK ROW: Ehlias Lemka, America Vaquero-Olguin, Jaxon Ayers, Kage Williams, Paige Kincaide, Makayla Malone.
The students honored for writing were FRONT ROW: Corra Garrison, Marley Woodard, Olivia Conran, Bentley Jackson, and Bailey Deardorff; and BACK ROW: Soralynn Castro,Paetra Arnold, Timberlynn Johnson, Emily Smith, Logan Sexton, and Katherine Graeve.
The reading award winners were FRONT ROW: Dani Naylor, Joey Bardwell, Ramier Argo, Marley McCullough, and Evelynn Calhoun; and BACK ROW: Riley Dunn, Blakely Kanoy, Liam Kinney, Cody Maninno, Rucker Noel, Elizabeth Calvin, and Kinsley Smith.
Coach Gunnar Person presents the PE award to two students from each grade each month. The October honorees were Devin Simms-Kenna Nutter-Riley Dunn, and Klien Sleyster.
The Harrisonville Rotary Club recognizes McEowen students with the Service Above Self Award. Deagon Donley was the October recipient.
McEowen also recognizes a staff member at the school as the McEowen Sonic Super Star Staff Member. The October recipient was art teacher David Jefferies.
Fantasia enrollment set for next week
The annual Fantasia event is Saturday, December 3rd from 9:15 am to 11:30 am at Harrisonville High School. This event offers 4-8th grader the chance to participate in enrichment classes.
McEowen students received enrollment packets this week and can enroll before school in the cafeteria Nov. 7, 8, or 9.
Each session costs $2, so it's $4 to take both sessions that morning.
