Success for all, whatever it takes!
Issue 18: December 7-11, 2015
Good morning, and happy Monday!
What a glorious mid-December weekend we just had! While mommy was busy nesting, Colby and I spent lots of time outside playing with trucks, helping Papa rake leaves, and of course riding our rocking horse!
In addition to all of the nesting and final baby preparations, we enjoyed a great Winter Wonderland at Colby's school, an afternoon with our church small-group, a "date night" at Ikea, and a couple of Santa visits.
I saw lots of you visited Santa this weekend as well, and I hope that your child's wish list is as simple as Colby's - a shark and cowboy boots! I know Santa can handle that. I loved the photos that you all shared, and I enjoy the Facebook posts that allow me to keep up with each of your families.
I know that the next 2 weeks will be busy with assessments and fun activities (PBIS, classroom parties, etc.), but it is important that we maintain as much of our normal routine as possible. We know that many students struggle with changes in routine, so please remember to discuss schedule changes ahead of time so that we are being proactive, rather than reactive, to students that have difficulty with changes in routine.
Laura and I are anxiously anticipating the arrival of Baby Nolan, but I plan to be here until the second I get the phone call. I look forward to observing in your classrooms, assisting with Units of Instruction, discussing PDPs, and am thankful to know that I have a great team to support me while I am gone.
I wish you many blessings this week, and hope you know that I am here for whatever you need!

Assessment Season is upon us, and this can be a very stressful time for all involved. Per Rita's email, please feel free to make adjustments to your daily and RTI schedules as needed to make this busy time work for you and your students.
Developmental Reading Assessment - Students in kindergarten and 1st grade have been busy taking the DRA since last Monday. Teachers have been busy celebrating improvements with their students, and we can't wait to celebrate many more this week.
Scholastic Reading Inventory - Students in grades 2-5 have been taking the SRI since early last week. Although I knew there were a few classes to complete the assessment, I took a peek at grade level reports, and WOW, there have been some huge gains in every grade level. I am eager to see these numbers continue to improve as we finish up testing this week.
If you are still needing to sign up for a time in the lab, or for a set of iPads, you can sign up here:
AIMSweb Assessment - Kindergarten students will be taking the Early Literacy Indicator assessments, and all other grades will be taking the CBM assessments this week. Please prepare your students with expectations before arriving at your testing location.
Arriving on-time will be critical to maintaining an efficient testing schedule, so please double check your day and time below:
1) Review PST data (All Grades)
2) Discuss Classroom Diagnostic Tool (MAP Assessment Grades 3-5)
Please send PST Referral forms with updated data points ahead of time to Amy and Dana so we can efficiently use your time together.
PLC - Wednesday
We know you want and need time to work on your Unit of Instruction as well as PDPs. So, the entire PLC time will be dedicated to collaboration time for your grade levels;/departments to complete these tasks.
If you would like for me, Rita, or Jessica to assist you and/or your team with any part of these processes, please let us know ahead of time, and we will schedule time with your team.
We look forward to seeing the grade units that you all are putting together!
