8 ozs. Distilled water

1 chamomile tea bag

¼ c. castile soap

½ tsp. jojoba oil

4-6 drops lavender (or Thieves if you want to use as a hand soap)

Bring water to a boil. Add tea bag. Let cool. Remove tea bag and add remaining ingredients. Put in foaming soap dispenser. Works best if you rinse with a 50/50 mixture of water and Braggs AVC). *I use this as my son’s shampoo and at our bathroom sinks (with Thieves instead of lavender).

DIY Shower Discs

1 c. baking soda

1 Tbsp. cornstarch

⅓ c. water

Eucalyptus or other EO

Mix baking soda with cornstarch and about 1/3 cup of water until it forms a thick but slightly pourable paste. You might have to add a little more water, just go slowly until you reach the consistency you want. Mix with a fork and spoon in to muffin tins, about 1/4 full. Bake at 350 degrees for about 15-20 minutes. Let cool and then add about 3-4 drops of each essential oil to the top of each disk. You can wait to add EO until the time of usage if you want. When dry, remove the shower disks from the tin and store in an airtight container. Like a mason jar.

DIY Shower Bombs by Young Living

Create your own spa getaway with these easy-to-make DIY shower bombs! The next time you need a bit of rejuvenation, toss a shower bomb in the bottom of your shower and enjoy the wonderful scent or create a collection of these homemade shower bombs as a gift for someone you love.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups baking soda
  • 1 cup citric acid (available at health food stores or online)
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 30+ drops of your favorite aromatic essential oil (see our suggestions below)

Directions:

Mix together the baking soda and citric acid in a medium-size bowl. In a separate small bowl or bottle, mix together water and essential oil. Slowly add the oil-water mixture a few drops at a time into your dry ingredients, stirring well after each addition (a stand mixer works well for this). When ingredients are thoroughly mixed, tightly pack into 2-inch balls using your hands, a stainless steel cake pop mold, or a cookie scoop. Set on a plate to dry. If necessary, pack the balls again more tightly. Allow to dry for 12+ hours before using.

To use, simply place a bomb near your feet under warm running water and enjoy the aromatic experience!

Suggested essential oil additions:

  • Morning Fresh Shower Bombs: Add 30 drops of Eucalyptus Radiatato a batch for an invigorating and fresh aromatic experience.
  • Orchard Stroll Shower Bombs: For a sweet, refreshing aromatic journey, add 30 drops of Citrus Fresh to a batch.
  • Day’s End Shower Bombs: Add 30 drops of Lavender to a batch to enjoy a relaxing aromatic addition to your shower time.

DIY Hair Detangler

To make things simple, each of these recipes starts with the same conditioning base. All you need to do is add a few drops of your favorite essential oils to this base to transform it into a custom detangling solution that will perfectly fit your needs.

DIY Detangler Base

Ingredients:

Directions:

Bring the distilled water to a simmer without boiling. Combine the warm water and conditioner in the bottle, shaking to combine. Add the recommended essential oils to the detangling base, shaking once again to distribute.

Apply the detangler to hair as needed, using the bottle’s spray attachment and focusing on the ends rather than the scalp, gently combing to dispense evenly throughout your hair. You can either rinse out the detangler or leave it in for extra conditioning. Style your hair as usual and enjoy the pleasant aroma of essential oils throughout the day!

Here are five recipes of essential oils that you can add to the detangling base to perfectly complement your hair type:

Normal Hair

Oily Hair

Dry Hair

Morning Detangler

DIY Men's Shaving Gel

1 foaming soap dispenser (used a leftover one, cleaned out and repurposed)

½ cup liquid castile soap

¼ cup warm water

¼ cup pure aloe vera gel

½ teaspoon salt

2 Tablespoons vegetable glycerin

1 Tablespoon Vitamin E oil

6 drops Purification essential oil

5-10 drops of your favorite essential oil/blend of oils (cederwood works well!)

Dissolve the salt in the warm water, and then blend all of the remaining ingredients together. Put in a foaming dispenser

Lori Davis, Member #2289245

Hello! I am a wife and mother of two very busy little girls, 25 months apart. I teach third grade in Waynesboro, Virginia. I began my journey with essential oils in order to help support my youngest daughter's digestive system. Sitting down with a dear friend to learn about the oils in the starter kit is in my top five best life decisions EVER. Our family is blessed beyond belief to have access to these 100% pure, therapeutic grade oils. Their benefits far exceed just the realm of ailments. Since purchasing my first start kit, Young Living essential oils are a vital part of my mommy "toolkit" and I couldn't be happier. I know exactly what is inside the oils I am using to help my family. I love this company, I love this team and I absolutely adore these oils.
