Registration Timeline

Starting the week of March 1, 2023, parents may begin to register Kindergarten students at

their elementary school of residence.

Legal age requirements for entrance:

Transitional Kindergarten: The child must turn 5 between September 2, 2023 - April 2, 2024. A child may also enter TK when they turn 5 years old if there is space available.
Kindergarten: The child must turn 5 by September 1, 2023.
First Grade: The child must turn 6 by September 1, 2023.

Register early to confirm your spot! Note: Your space is not confirmed until you have completed online enrollment AND submitted copy of birth certificate, proof of residence, and immunizations to our office.

Transfers for Students who Live Outside of Monte Vista Boundaries

If your child is interested in attending Monte Vista, but it is not your home school, you can apply for an intradistrict transfer. The priority window for intradistrict transfers is NOW through March 15th, 2023 at 4:30pm. ***Transfers received after March 15 will be considered based on space available. Your child must be registered at your school of residence before the transfer will be processed. This includes the online enrollment AND submitted copy of birth certificate, proof of residence, and immunizations. Please contact VUSD Student Support Services at (760) 726-2170 or visit the Student Support Services page of the Vista Unified website for more information about this process. Required steps for transfer:

Register online at your school of residence
Submit copy of birth certificate, proof of residence, and immunizations to school of residence (can be brought into office or uploaded with online enrollment)
Fill out Student Services Transfer application
