Week of February 13th

Kindness Club!

Random acts of kindness are spreading throughout the halls of Eisenhower Elementary. The third and fifth graders joined together to help promote kindness. Each month the club chooses a way to spread joy and kindness to others. The main hallway at Eisenhower welcomes the students with a large Kindness Tree.

Red Robin Restaurant Review!

Our 2nd graders enjoyed their field trip to Red Robin. They are currently learning how to write an opinion paper. The students were able to order off the Red Robin menu and write a restaurant review after their tasting! This trip allows for hands-on learning about their writing topic.

Black History Month

We are taking the month to also celebrate Black History Month at Ike. National Geographic Kids explains, "Black History Month was created to focus attention on the contributions of African Americans to the United States. It honors all Black people from all periods of U.S. history, from the enslaved people first brought over from Africa in the early 17th century to African Americans living in the United States today."

Here at Eisenhower, our Eagles are studying notable Black Americans from throughout our country's history who have impacted the United States is important ways. In addition, many of our classes are learning about music, poetry, art, and other important contributions made by Black Americans in our country.

As we continue to work to create a culturally responsive, equitable learning environment for all of our students, it's important that we celebrate diversity and make sure that none of our students feels marginalized or left out. We want our Eagles to learn about and appreciate the many cultures and races that make up our diverse country. This is not just a priority during February; it's a priority throughout the year.
