Senior Key Information
Seniors, per yesterday's Senior Meeting, attached os the latest Senior Calendar of Important Dates. Please note these changes:
1. Graduation has moved from June 17th to June 16th. It is still at 9:00 am
2. Oct 13th, PSAT day will be an asynchronous day for all Seniors
3. Senior Gala and Senior Awards has moved from June 9th to June 8th
Homecoming is ALMOST HERE!
HOMECOMING TICKETS ON SALE NOW!
We are SO excited to host Homecoming on Oct. 9 from 8pm-11pm in the stadium. All events for Homecoming will take place outside. The dance will feature a huge tent with a dance floor, string lights, DJ Mario, a huge inflatable screen projecting Disney clips in honor of our Homecoming theme, snacks, a photobooth, games and more. This is an event you do not want to miss- the chance to dance outside in the football stadium for the first time ever. Tickets will be $20 until Sept. 28, after that they will be $25 through Oct. 8. In order to attend the dance, students and guardians must:
- Fill out this permission slip: www.tinyurl.com/RRHSHOCOFORM21 If your student is bringing a NON-RRHS guest, you can put in their information here
- Buy a ticket online HERE, or bring cash/check to lunch any day starting Wednesday. Each student/guest needs a ticket
- Once you have done the permission slip and paid online, pick up your ticket in the cafeteria.
HOMECOMING REFRESHMENTS NEEDED
Please sign up to donate a refreshment for the dance on Oct. 9. You can sign up to donate water, snacks, candy, or soda here. Every little bit helps make the dance more special for the kids! Food and drinks can be dropped off October 4-8th in the main office, or on October 9th in the front foyer of the school from 9:00-1:00
HOMECOMING TAILGATE- OCT 8- SAVE THE DATE!
On Oct. 8 from 5-7 SCA will be hosting a huge tailgate for the whole school and community. Families, students, siblings, etc. are all invited! The tailgate will feature two food trucks serving fried Oreos, chicken tenders, fries, and homemade ice cream sandwiches. There will also be an inflatable obstacle course for racing, tailgate games, a giant inflatable connect four, sign making, carnival games, clubs/organizations, and spirit giveaways. There will be fun for the whole family, so don’t miss the tailgate and then head to the Black Out Homecoming Game at 7!
HOMECOMING KICK OFF-CLASS OF CLASSES- OCT. 4
Juniors and seniors will compete against each other in a competitive game of kick ball. The winning team will get spirit points. The game is from 6-7 in the baseball stadium. Tickets are a suggested donation of at least $1. Proceeds will go to the school charity.
OCTOBER 4-8 HOMECOMING SPIRIT WEEK
Our second spirit week will be Oct. 4-8, and spirit days are included here. The spirit week will culminate with our first outdoor pep rally on Oct. 8!
This Week in Athletics
Starting 11/8/21 all winter and spring athletes must turn in proof of COVID-19 vaccination or tested weekly. See the LCPS document with FAQ at www.lcps.org/Page/239948. We anticipate more direction and information as we get closer to 11/8. Submit proof of vaccination to patrick.mcnanley@lcps.org. You can simply scan or take a picture and email to Mr. McNanley.

Yearbook and Photo Information
LAST DATES FOR SENIOR PICTURE MAKE UPS- SEPTEMBER 27 & 28
Sign up NOW for your senior portrait date. Pictures will be taken in the library on Sept 27 & 28. This is the LAST round of pictures, so schedule your time now. Pictures will include the traditional drape and cap and gown. It is free to do the sitting for the yearbook picture. However, you can also choose packages that include casual and dress clothes/poses. There will be NO MORE picture dates after this.

SENIOR ADS ON SALE NOW!
Ads are available now and must be purchased online. Parents can go to www.yearbookforever.com to choose their ad size, upload their pictures and message, and pay for the ad. The yearbook staff will design the ad and send parents a proof. Ads are on sale for early bird pricing until Oct. 31 with coupon code “Seniors.” Ad space is limited and are available on a first-come, first serve basis.

World Languages and Cultures Update!
Credit Through Testing
Credit Through Testing is a free exam offered by LCPS that provides students who are native speakers of a language other than English the opportunity to earn two language credits and qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy. The exam measures students’ ability to read and write in their first language and is available to students in grades 9-12.
Languages offered: Arabic, Bengali, Chinese/Mandarin, Farsi, French, German, Gujarati, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog/Filipino, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, and Vietnamese.
Testing Dates and Times:
November 8, 2021- Tuscarora High School
November 9, 2021- Park View High School
November 10, 2021- Broad Run High School
November 11, 2021- Lightridge High School
All exams take place in the cafeteria. Exam registration begins at 4pm and the exam runs from 4:30-6:30.

Governor’s School – There were information sessions Friday during all lunch shifted by the LCPS Gifted and Talented office. The applications for the Summer Residential Governor’s School program will be updated in the VDOE website by October 4th.
If you are interested in the Governor’s School program for Visual and Performing Art please know the process listed below.
VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS STUDENTS:
LCPS students interested in the 2022 Visual and Performing Arts Governor’s School must participate in our local preliminary audition for selection to attend the state level audition. The 2022 LCPS Preliminary Audition will be VIRTUAL.
- The deadline to register for the VIRTUAL Preliminary Audition is October 22, 2021. Please complete the Registration Form found here:

- Once you register, you will receive an email with a link to our VPA Governor’s School Schoology course. All the information you need to audition is in the course.
- You do not need to complete an application before the LCPS Preliminary Audition, but you must register!

- Please read them carefully as you prepare for your audition.
- The deadline to submit audition videos is October 30, 2021.
- If you are selected for the state auditions you will need to apply for the Visual and Performing Arts Governor’s School. If you are not selected for the state auditions, you may apply to a different Governor’s School.
All Applicants:
The Virginia Summer Residential Governor’s School website should update on October 4, 2021. Do not begin the application process until the 2022 applications appear on the website.

- Currently 42% of Seniors have applied to college. Great job seniors keep it up. As we relayed at the Senior Meeting on Friday we hope to have 80% to have applied to college or their post high school program by Winter Break!!!
