WBSD Update
A weekly update from the West Bloomfield School District
WBSD Weekly Update - March 12
We had another great week of both in-person and remote learning in the West Bloomfield School District. Whether online or in the classroom, our students are displaying all four elements of the 4Cs and our Portrait of a Graduate each and every single day!
Have a great weekend!
SPRING BREAK REMINDERS - MARCH 29 - APRIL 2
Our district's Spring Break is coming up on March 29 - April 2. In order to keep everyone on Team WB as safe as possible following Spring Break, we are expecting district families planning to travel internationally to the guidance of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
CDC recommendations for international travel include:
- Get tested 3-5 days after travel AND stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.
- If you test negative, your self-quarantine may be shortened to seven full days.
- If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.
- If you don’t get tested, it’s safest to stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.
- Avoid being around people who are at increased risk for severe illness for 14 days, whether you get tested or not.
For those planning to travel domestically, please follow the CDC's recommendations for domestic travel. No quarantine is necessary for those traveling within the United States.
DISTRICT PLANNING MAY 4TH BALLOT PROPOSAL - HEADLEE RESTORATION
The West Bloomfield School District Board of Education unanimously approved a 2.0 mill non-homestead millage restoration proposal during their Jan. 25 regular meeting. This proposal will appear on the May 4, 2021 ballot.
The ballot proposal calls for a 2.0 mill increase in the non-homestead millage rate. This will raise the current non-homestead tax rate from its current rolled back rate of 16.9544 to 18.9544 mills. While the school district can only levy 18 mills on non-homestead property, the millage above 18 mills will protect the school district from future rollbacks.
This proposal seeks restoration of the non-homestead tax rate that was approved by voters in 2014.

Scotch receives donation from local Meijer store
Jim Scrivo, Scotch Elementary principal said, "The donation came from the goodness of their hearts, and the idea to pay it forward. They chose Scotch randomly and truly made an impact with our staff and students. We are still in awe of the amount of items that Meijer was able to donate to us. We are so thankful and grateful to them!"

The West Bloomfield Township Main Library and Westacres Branch are open for Phase 3 services.
In Phase 3, our priorities continue to be the health and safety of staff, users and the community at large and providing convenient access to collections of materials in all formats. An additional goal of Phase 3 is providing access to the Library’s public computers, scanners and printers, equipment that we recognize not everyone in our community may have at home. Please see the Library’s website for the latest updates and temporary hours.
Renew or request a library card
Ask at the Main Library Reception desk or the Westacres Branch Circulation desk. You can also continue to renew or request a library card on the Library’s website.
