A Message From Our Principal
Greetings!
Thanks to all the parents for their support and help with the infamous Tik-Tok challenge. I truly believe that with your help our children realize the serious fall out from it and were deterred from continuing the challenge. So once again, thank you all for the support and help.
Moving on to great things happening! Ms. Christa Delaney, a proud member of our Science Department, was the recipient of the “President's Environmental Education Award”! The High School is very proud of her accomplishments.
Monday, September 20, we held the virtual Back to School Night and teachers were impressed by the number of High School parents that attended their Google classrooms. I am sure teachers shared with you the great things they teach and how important it is for students to do homework and communicate with them. I am also sure they explained how you can find information in the Parent Portal.
The Start Strong testing is being scheduled for early October. By grade level you can see what the testing will be. As soon as more information is available we will share it with you.

Dr. Graham, our supervisor of business and careers, held a Google meet for seniors and their parents for a pre-apprentice career education program. It was received very well and we already have 13 students registered.
We held class assemblies this week for the Junior and Senior classes. During all grade level assemblies we shared a video to the students to help promote an Anti-Bullying/ Positive School Climate. The program is meant to foster an atmosphere of kindness and inclusion for ALL. We have three of our own EHT students who have been selected by the Tyler Clementi Foundation as leaders for this state-wide initiative. Students can find the declaration and upstander pledge posted in classrooms where they can also find the QR code for students to take their own pledge electronically. Take a look at the teacher video below!
Currently our students are becoming more and more involved with the school. Clubs and activities began having meetings this week. Our Key Club is planning their field trip to Great Adventure and our fall play “Legally Blonde,” is working hard for their production.
Barksdale has been at the High School all week taking student pictures. We are also still partners with Atlanticare and plan to offer another day of Covid 19 shots for both students and faculty. Keep checking the High School web page for more information.
Until next week, have a wonderful weekend! Stay safe, be well, continue to dream of the possibilities ahead of us, be happy and smile at someone!
Ms. Connor

Student Assistance Program and Resources
The High School has adopted a new bullying-prevention program for this school year! #DAY1--a staff and student-led philosophy that will serve to foster a building-wide atmosphere of kindness and inclusion. This program was started a few years ago in Bergen County by the Tyler Clementi Foundation and has gained momentum throughout the state and country for use in schools, community groups, workplaces, and sports teams. We even have 3 of our own students who were selected by the foundation as leaders for this initiative! The premise is simple: the adults in the building make a “declaration statement” about behavior that is expected, as well as behavior that is unacceptable, and we all pledge to conduct ourselves accordingly. This includes seeking help when we witness unacceptable behavior occurring. This notion is called being an #Upstander.
Has your student taken their #Upstander Pledge yet?!? Have them sign into their school accounts and click here! 😊
