A Message from the WSD Administration

I’m Thankful for…….

by ABS Principal John Terko

As we enter the holiday season, I have spent some time thinking about how much I love being an educator and about how grateful I am to have found a life’s work that fills me with passion and purpose and joy. I love getting up in the morning and going to work every day. Call me crazy but working with children everyday is uplifting. Listed below are the things that I am most grateful for in education.

Monday morning I walked down the halls and just listened to the sounds. It’s a hum of laughter and learning and failure and success and teaching and determination and love. Stand outside a class and listen to the sounds of kids engaged, or stand in the corner of the playground during recess and listen to the shouts of happiness, as kids play and make new friends. I couldn’t think of a better sound to the ears.

Children are the best teachers that any of us could possibly have. It is impossible to spend a day with a child and not come away inspired and changed for the better. The way they notice the little things in life that we take for granted, the way that they are constantly curious and their imagination, creativity, and willingness to fail and try, try again. There is nothing in the world like the beauty of a child. Continue reading.

Williston Runs 2016 Survey

The Williston Runs Race Committee is considering changing the current format of the Williston Runs! for Education 5K Fun Run to a 5K Relay that would take place completely within Williston Community Park. This would create more excitement and team spirit, make the event spectator friendly and allow more participation. Not everyone can run a full 5K but most people can run 1 mile. We would still have a separate Kids Fun Run. The relay would involve teams of 2-3 persons.

Please access the survey below to input your answers.

Should we change the current 5K event format to a relay format?

( ) Yes! This sounds fun!

( ) No way! I love Williston Runs just the way it is, don't change it.

( ) I'm intrigued, but have some thoughts or ideas.
