Reflecting on the past week...
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend and was rested as you came back to school this week. It was a relatively quiet week... digging into curriculum, wrapping up semester units & projects, and reaching out to parents about their students' progress.
If you have not already, it is important that you email parents of any students who have a D or F in your classes so they are fully aware of their student's grades prior to the upcoming exams. Don't forget to CC me as well.
Junior Kairos was a very special retreat for some of our students this past week. It ended in a very special ceremony Friday night. Please remember that any student, both retreatant or retreat leader, receives one day for every day they were on retreat to make up any missing work. Use the annotation "rt" to denote missing work. Thank you for praying for our retreat participants.
Saturday morning brought our future students (class of 2024) to take the High School Placement Test while about 35 of our current students took advantage of a free ACT practice test through Revolution Test Prep. Please pray that all of these students had a successful day!
What's coming up?
This week will be very busy! It starts out with an all school mass celebrating the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
- We have an extended homeroom on Wednesday in which our wonderful student mentors give advice to our freshmen in preparation for the upcoming Semester exams.
- Wednesday evening brings our annual Christmas music concert at 7pm. If you get the chance, please come support our students as they display their Christmas talents.
- Locker clean-out is Thursday at the end of 8th period. More information on which bank of lockers you will be in charge of checking will be coming in an email this week.
- Our week ends with a pep rally that will celebrate our winter sports teams as well as watching some of our students competing by grade level to earn a dress down day the following Tuesday! The special schedule is attached.
Finally, Semester exams are coming Dec. 18-20! Please take the time to review some key points about procedures and expectations in the section below.
Hope you have a wonderful week!
Semester 1 Exams are Coming!
Some key points include the following...
- Copies of all Study Guides & Exams must be submitted to both the principal and your department head by Wednesday, Dec. 11
- If you did not already, you must sign up for a grade meeting with the principal here.
- The grading portal will be closed to view by parents & students by Dec. 17 @ 3pm. Make sure that all of your grades are up to date by then so students are very aware of where they stand as they go into exam week.
- When coming to your grade meeting make sure you have a copy of each course's grades (including semester, exam, and final grade), make sure the grades are "submitted" and if you have any outstanding exams you must put "I" in both the exam and final grade... providing either Guidance and/or the principal with the exam & key.
** Please note that you may be receiving an email as we approach exams indicating which students are NOT allowed to take exams until their bill is up to date. Unless you receive notification from the office that a student is released, if the student comes to your class for exams you must send them to the office.
If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Novy.
