Fashion House of Dior
The House of Christian Dior started in 1947, when Normandy-born designer Christian Dior opened his own company after working with Robert Pigue and Lucien Lelong. After his death, the House of Dior has continued to flourish and still remains one of the world most influential design establishments.
What Dior was known for:
Dior was know for his extravagance in women’s wear in a post-war time when women had been used to shorter and boxier skirts, which had their roots in the war-time rationing of fabric. His "New Look", as it became known, was unapologetically feminine with skirts long and gown like. His skirts and dresses revolutionized the way women looked after World War II.
