Off to New Adventures!
Please join us in wishing Mrs. Chris Oca a Happy Retirement after 29 years with the Greenwich Public Schools, 28 of them at Julian Curtiss. She is looking forward to traveling, boating with her husband Bob, and having extra time to spend on her love of reading. She is really looking forward to making her own plans each and every day. We will miss Chris’s welcome in the front office.
Ms. LeAnn Hinkle has accepted a full-time position at Western Middle School. Ms. Hinkle has been at Julian Curtiss for 22 years and will be sorely missed as an Art Teacher and supporter of our enrichment programs, support programs, and PTA programs. Ms. Hinkle has a reputation for donating her personal time to support the children of Julian Curtiss and the Greenwich Public Schools. Ms. Hinkle’s move is Western’s gain and our loss but we wish Ms. Hinkle smooth sailing.
Ms. Madeleine Hannah has just announced the wonderful news that she and her husband Chris are expecting a baby in December. Ms. Hannah has made the difficult decision to press pause on teaching and spend some time with her twins Eloise and Grant, as well as the newest addition to the Hannah family. Ms. Hannah has been one of our excellent first-grade teachers at Julian Curtiss for 6 years. We will miss her but wish Ms. Hannah and her growing family the very best in their next stage of life.
Ms. Chelsea Sciarretta has been a valued member of the Julian Curtiss staff since 2017. Ms. Sciarretta has proved herself a highly capable teacher in various roles over the last four years including intern/building substitute, fourth grade student teacher, first grade teacher, and Advanced Learning Program teacher for grades 2-5. We have truly enjoyed having the opportunity to see Ms. Sciarretta grow from an intern to an accomplished teacher, and wish her the best as she continues in her career!
Ms. Valerie Leger, French Teacher will be teaching full time at Central Middle School next school year. Ms. Leger has been teaching French at JC for 4 years. We will miss you Madame Leger! Bon Voyage!
Mrs. Tonia Lackran, Speech and Language Therapist, has worked as a long-term substitute here at Julian Curtiss for the 2020-2021 school year. We have loved having Ms. Lackran at JC, but Mrs. Yaneli Avila will be returning from her remote assignment in the fall. Thank you Mrs. Lackran for all you have done this year. We certainly hope to meet again!
Mr. John Sabito, our Special Education clerk, will be moving on to a new job with the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. Those of you who have dealt with him know that his thoroughness and highly organized and detailed manner will be missed - and will also understand why this new career is perfect for him! We are fortunate that JC was a stop along Mr. Sabito's path to DC.
Congratulations and best wishes to this special group of educators!

2020-2021 GPS Family Feedback Panorama Survey
GPS will be administering year-end surveys to parents, students, and staff throughout the month of June. The survey will be sent via email to families next week. The surveys have been condensed, so that they can be completed within a matter of minutes. The survey email address is: support+greenwich@panoramaed.com, and the sender is: The Panorama Education Team. The subject line will be: 2020-2021 GPS Family Feedback Survey.
Surveys are one of the best ways to gather significant community input, all of which is completely anonymous, using an outside vendor; and therefore, we encourage everyone to participate.
Parents may choose to opt-out their children (Grades 3-12) from participating in the survey by completing the online form in English or Spanish, no later than June 5, 2021.
