Harbins Career Fair
Harbins Elementary School is excited to inform you that we will be having our annual Career Fair and Career on Wheels from 9:00 to 12:00 on Thursday, March 26th this year. This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn about various occupations through guest speakers from our community.
« If you would like to speak to students about your occupation or if your occupation involves the use of a vehicle and you would like to bring your “wheels” please fill out the information below (click the link) and return it to your child’s classroom teacher by February 13th. The Career Fair will be held in our cafeteria and Career on Wheels will be in our front driveway.
Thank you in advance for your support and participation in our Career programs. We look forward to hearing from you and learning about your careers!
School Bus Safety and the Stop-Arm Camera Initiative in GCPS
Please be aware of this information. This includes buses stopped for loading and unloading in our front drive of the school.
Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) is diligent in its work to ensure safe school bus ridership to and from our schools. As part of our bus safety focus, we teach students rules to follow as they get on and off the bus. We also would like to remind drivers of the rules they must follow when they encounter a school bus on the roadway. In 2011, lawmakers put into place a law to help keep children safe when they are loading or unloading school buses. The law outlines rules drivers must follow when they encounter a stopped school bus. Safety is a priority when it comes to transporting students and we all play a role in keeping kids safe.
In addition to raising awareness regarding bus safety and laws for drivers, GCPS is placing school bus stop arm cameras on buses as a deterrent for drivers who illegally pass school buses. During the 2014-15 school year, cameras will be placed on 300 buses. When the school bus stop arm is activated, the system automatically detects vehicles passing the stopped school bus, and records the violation. The violator will receive a citation in the mail. Thank you for your support of the safety of our students.
