2017-2018 Parent Input Forms- Placement Information
In making class assignments, our goal is to place each child in a class in which he or she can be most successful while maintaining a balance among classes in terms of gender, academic ability, disciplinary and social needs, learning styles, and individual needs of the students. All information shared is confidential and submitted electronically to Amanda Prehn.
We hope to make classroom assignments that will maximize the opportunity for your child’s success. If you have information you would like considered in your child’s placement, you may complete and submit this form no later than May 16, 2017. Please limit your input to the way your child learns and special needs we should consider. Staffing and staff assignments for next year have not yet been finalized. We will not be able to honor requests for a specific teacher, however we will do our best to honor your feedback.

School Garden Committee- Help Needed
Do you have a green thumb? Enjoy gardening? We are looking for people who would like to be part of our garden committee, and additionally, we are looking for a Master Gardener and/or Landscape Architect to help in the creation of our outdoor classroom/garden! The PTO Gives WCH Staff the Red Carpet Treatment for Teacher Appreciation Week

LTISD Kardivas End-of-Year Party
The Kardivas held their final, district-wide, End-of-Year Party Thursday, April 27, 2017, in the cafeteria of Lake Travis High School. The party was a resounding success! In keeping with Kardivas traditions, awards were also presented at the party (inclusive of girls from each of the 6 LTISD elementary schools.)
By the vote of their peers, the following “D - I - V - A - S” from West Cypress Hills Elementary School were honored:
The word Kardivas comes from the Greek word “kardia” which means heart, or seat of emotions, and DIVAS stands for:
Devoted: completely loyal, affectionate and loving / The “Devoted” award went to Miss Melissa Peeler
Inspired: guided by Divine influence, encouraged / The “Inspired” award went to Miss Marin Acuna
Virtuous: showing moral excellence, having desirable qualities / The “Virtuous” award went to Miss Keira Black

The PTO is looking for 3 people to volunteer their time in the beginning of July to conduct a year end audit of their books. You do not need an accounting background. It will take about 4-5 hours. If you are interested please contact email@example.com
5th GRADE DISCOVERY STUDENTS LAND ON MARS!!!
The 5th Grade Discovery Students welcomed Grades 2 through 5 to MARS on Friday, May 5. Grades K and 1 will land on Mars on Thursday, May 11. Some of the interesting sights that Earthlings touring Mars experience are the Olympus Mons (largest active volano in our solar system,) Valles Marineris (the Martian canyon that is over 10 times larger than Earth’s Grand Canyon,) and well-built and creative models to show how the Discover Students live and work on Mars!
