District Boomerang Honoree!

Congratulations, Danny K.! Danny was selected as the February Boomerang Honoree for both Tamanend and the entire District! Danny exemplifies caring. He consistently places a high value on helping other people. Since 7th grade, he has been involved with helping students feel welcome. He has worked with our autistic students as part of the Friends group for years, even going to Bridge Valley Elementary after school last year to help the students there make friends with our students before they arrived. Danny is an involved member of LINK whose purpose is to help everyone at Tamanend feel connected. Danny cares for the younger members in the musical cast each year, making sure that they have their costumes and they are ready to go on stage, all on top of knowing his own lines and songs as a lead actor! He is welcoming, caring, and helpful to all and he greets each day with his signature enthusiasm. Danny, thank you for always showing care towards all of us. We are thrilled that the CB Cares Education Foundation also recognized this incredible asset in you.

You Be the Chemist

Submitted by Ms. Nagle

Last Saturday, 11 Tamenend students competed against 50 other Bucks County students in the You Be the Chemist Bucks County Local Challenge at Dow Chemical Company. After hours of competition and a fierce battle, Ray N. ended up taking FIRST PLACE and now will be moving on to compete in the Pennsylvania Challenge for a chance to move on to Nationals. Congratulations to all students who participated and good luck Ray, we are so proud of you!

Wednesday, March 21st is WDSA Day. Check it out...

17 More Days in this Marking Period

This is a good time to look at the student/parent portal and talk with your student to make sure he/she has good plans for finishing the marking period strong. If after talking with your student you have questions or concerns, please email teachers.

Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences

Our official conference day is Thursday, March 29, although some conferences are already taking place. It is important that students join the conferences so that their insights and questions are heard. Teachers might contact parents to schedule a conference, or parents/guardians may request a conference. If you would like a conference to discuss your student's progress in school, please email your student's teacher or team leader to schedule a time to meet. If teachers do not request a conference, and you do not have any questions or concerns about your child's progress, then a conference is not necessary at this time. However, if at any time throughout the year that should change and you do have questions or concerns, please contact us so that we can all work together to ensure your student’s success.

State Assessments

The following state assessments are planned for students:

  • PSSA ELA: April 10-12
  • PSSA Math: April 17 & 18
  • PSSA Science: April 24 & 25
  • Algebra 1 Keystones: May 15 & 16

To prepare for the assessments, students are encouraged to go to bed early, eat a healthy breakfast and bring water, a calculator, and two #2 pencils. Students may not bring any unapproved electronic devices: cell/smartphones, smartwatches, ereaders, tablets, etc. For more information and frequently asked questions about state assessments, click here.

Big picture

Throughout the year, Tamanend staff members look for examples of students showing Respect, Achievement, and Responsibility... R.oA.R. Those students are given "Tiger Tracks" tickets which students can enter into a drawing. Each Friday, Mr. Boyle draws one student's Tiger Track and announces the winner on our Tamanend Today Show. The winner can pick from a number of prizes including great coupons from Subway, Rita's, Randazzo's, Yogurt Tree, and Moe's!

The following students were recent weekly winners!
