The type of motion in position 1 was acceleration. Acceleration occured when the marble was going down the styrofoam tube. There was two different types of forces; gravity and friction. The gravity was force normal and there was friction when the marble was being pushed against the tube. The types of energy were potential and kinetic. Potential energy occurs when the marble is first dropped in the start of our roller coaster because it's not using energy to got down the tube. There is kinetic energy while the marble is at the bottom on the tube because it's moving.
The type of motion in position 2 was acceleration. acceleration was present when the marble went up and down the loop because it decreased and increased in speed. The force that was present was friction. friction occurred when the marble rubbed against the ramp. there were two types of energy thermal and kinetic. thermal was present when the marble went up the ramp. Kinetic energy is present when the ball is moving.
The type of motion I chose for this position is acceleration. Acceleration occurs when moving down the second ramp. The type of forces we saw are friction and gravity. friction is present when the ball hits the bottom of the ramp and gravity is present throughout the ramp, keeping the ball on the ramp. There are 2 types of energy thermal and kinetic. Kinetic energy is present when gravity is applying force to the ball down the ramp, and thermal energy is a product of friction.
