What it means for you as a parent

There are four language Attributes

In oral language there are four main attributes:

Arbitrariness – There is no necessary connection between what a word means and how it sounds or looks.

Semanticity – this is the property of language that allows it to be descriptive

Productivity - refers to the capacity of speakers to produce an infinite numberof distinct utterances.

Displacement – the capacity togenerate meaningful utterances not tied to theimmediate environment

These set oral language apart from all other systems of communication.
