Fitness Focus
Nutrition
In fitness, your student has been focusing on:
- Nutrients that provide energy for our bodies
- Reading food labels
- Balancing meals and choosing and variety of foods
- Creating a colorful plate
Please feel free to send food labels to school with your student so that we can examine the nutrients of a variety of foods.
First Grade Program - Information Below!
Skills & Drills
- Spacial Awareness, rhythm, and dance in the Gym (K-5)
- Yoga (K-5)
- Aerobic Development - Jump Rope (K-5) and Running (3-5)
- Muscular Strength (3-5)
- Recess games & rules stations (3-5)
Participation in the activities above also enhances your student's health related fitness components of Flexibility, Cardiovascular Endurance, Muscular Endurance, and Muscular Strength.
FItnessGram 2018
Students in grades 3-5 have been setting and working towards personal goals for the 2018 FitnessGram Assessment. Students are increasing aerobic endurance in both PE & Fitness and practicing proper curl-up and push-up technique. Please encourage your student to share their fitness goals with you and feel free to use the videos below to inspire additional family activities at home. Our target dates for completing the assessments are as follows.
- Week of 2/26 - 3/2: Mile Run & Flexibility
- Week of 3/5 - 3/9: Curl-up & Push-up Assessment
