The Weekly
Elizabeth Ide Elementary School
A Message from your Principal, Mrs. Katie Johnson
Dear Families,
This week, I want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of regular attendance for your child's success in elementary school.
Regular attendance is crucial for your child's academic and social development. When students are present in class, they have the opportunity to engage in meaningful learning experiences, interact with their peers, and receive direct instruction from their teachers. Consistent attendance also helps students build important routines and habits that will benefit them throughout their academic journey.
We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and absences due to illness or family emergencies are unavoidable. However, we urge you to make every effort to ensure that your child attends school regularly and arrives on time. Establishing good attendance habits now will set a positive foundation for their future education. We encourage you to prioritize your child's attendance and to communicate with the school if any challenges arise that may affect their ability to attend regularly.
It is very important that we work collaboratively and assist students to avoid reaching the critical stage of chronic truancy. With that in mind, we will be sending home a letter to parents/guardians when student absences exceed 10% of school days. The first round of letters will be sent home at the end of the 2nd Trimester. Please know that this letter intends not to alarm parents or punish students, but is to provide timely absence information and create an opportunity to partner with families for improvement.
Our staff is here to support you and your child in any way we can.Thank you for your attention to this matter, and please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns regarding attendance.
Respectfully,
Katie Johnson

Valentine's Day
Just a friendly reminder to all students and parents that Valentine's Day is approaching, and if students would like to participate in exchanging cards, they are welcome to bring in Valentine's cards for all of their classmates on or before the morning of February 14th. Students will have the opportunity to pass their cards out, the morning of Valentine’s Day. Please refrain from addressing cards to specific students; simply have your child sign their Valentine’s with their name so their classmates know who it is from. Treat bags and/or treats are allowed, but they must be taken home to be consumed. Please ensure that any treats brought in are individually wrapped and store-bought for safety reasons.
Let's spread love and positivity in a respectful and inclusive manner.
