Dear Parents,

On Friday, October 7, Mrs. Shaw & Mrs. Simoncelli-Bulak will be kicking in the annual Kick-A-Thon, which raises money for the American Cancer Society. Beginning Monday, September 12, and ending September 19, the Student Councils at both schools will be sponsoring a “Penny Drive,” to support this important cause.

Information for you:

  • All classes will have a “penny jar” where your child may put his/her donated coins.

  • The class which raises the most money (in each grade level), will win a treat for their class.

Thank you in advance for all of your help! If you have any questions, please see ask any of the Student Council Advisors:

Davis: Mrs. Thomas and Mrs. Therrien

Richmond: Mrs. Ganshert, Mrs. Luebke or Mrs. Webster

Thanks!!!!! ☺

Open House/Curriculum Night

This year at Davis and Richmond, Curriculum Night will have a different format. Instead of curriculum presentations with parents and classroom teachers we will be hosting an open house. During open house parents and their children are invited to come to the school to visit their classrooms, explore the building, meet teachers, and give the children a chance to show off all of the learning they have been engaged in. Please enter through the Main Doors.

  • Richmond Open House: Monday, September 12th (6:00-8:00)

Take-home Covid Test Kits

Take-home COVID test kits are now available upon request at Davis/Richmond while supplies last. These are rapid test kits that include two per box. Students can request take-home kits from the school nurse, or families can make a request by contacting the school.

September Focus - Task Initiation

Executive function refers to a set of essential skills that help us focus, plan, prioritize, work toward goals, self-regulate behaviors and emotions, adapt to new and unexpected situations, and ultimately engage in abstract thinking, planning and learning. Executive function is what gets us down to business even when we'd rather just hang out and do. This month Davis is focusing on the executive functioning skill of task initiation. This means we will be teaching students about their ability to efficiently begin a task or activity and to then independently generate ideas, responses, and problem-solving strategies. Successful application of this ability allows a child to initiate a task without procrastination. Some things you can do at home to work on task initiation with your child are; creating a schedule for home tasks/chores and sticking to it, doing some exercise or a physical activity before work time, using a countdown or timer to get to work, reducing distractions around your child, and incorporating areas of interest into their work.

Open House Success!

Thank you to all of the families who attended our open house on Thursday. We loved that families had the opportunity to use the BINGO card to visit all of the learning spaces at Davis and to meet our staff. Don’t forget to attend Richmond’s open house next week!

Student Clubs

98 Students joined a Richmond Student Leadership Club! More than 25% of our student body is enrolled in one of our leadership clubs! We had such an overwhelming positive response, every larger space/classroom is being used for clubs! We appreciate our parent support and letters for clubs should have gone home in your child’s backpack this afternoon if they signed up for a club with details. Clubs will start Friday, September 16th, except for the student council which follows a different schedule. We are looking forward to this unique leadership opportunity for our Richmond students!
