Summer School Information
1st-5th Grades
Pacific Ridge Families,
In response to the pandemic and a year of online learning, the Oregon Department of Education has allocated funding for Summer Programs for students who will be entering grades 1-12 in Fall of 2021. As a result, Seaside School District will be able to offer a variety of Summer School opportunities and Summer Camps in August, with transportation and sack lunches included.
Pre-registration for programs will be prioritized for students most needing to make up graduation credits (Grades 10, 11, & 12) and unfinished learning (Grades 1 through 9); remaining slots will then be made available to all students. High School students who need to make up credits towards graduation will be eligible for programs focusing on Credit Recovery, tutoring, or Summer School credit opportunities. For elementary students, fifty of the slots for summer camp will also qualify for wraparound childcare services through the Sunset Empire Parks and Recreation District during summer sessions.
Parents whose students are prioritized for these programs based on data gathered this spring will be contacted for registration first. Our aim is to serve as many students as possible. After May 17, 2021, any remaining registration slots will be opened to all other students.
You may also see a Bookmobile cruising through your neighborhood once a week this summer. The Bookmobile, curated by our Seaside District Library staff, will deliver free books once a week to predetermined drop off spots in Cannon Beach, Seaside, Gearhart, and Cullaby Lake. More information on days, times, and locations will be announced in June.
For more information or questions, please contact Cate Blakesley at Pacific Ridge Elementary School 503-738-5161 or via email at cblakesley@seasidek12.org.
Affectionately,
Cate Blakesley

Bikes for Books
A Reading Contest for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders
Once again, the Masonic Evergreen Lodge in Seaside has generously donated 6 bikes to be given away as prizes to 6 lucky readers in our Bikes for Books contest.
This contest is for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders who read a book and then, on their computer, carefully answer questions about the book on our Book Report Form.
In order to include Online Thrive, CDL and in-person students, the form is a Google doc. that is accessed by computer, filled out and then submitted electronically.
Teachers are sharing an informational video made by our librarians, Mrs. Stewart and Mrs. Ogilvie to let our students know all about it.
This year our school is providing a helmet to go with each bike!
Remember, the more you read and the more times you submit an entry, the better your chances that your name will be drawn!
The contest begins on May 10th and runs through June, 7th.
June 7th is the last day to submit an entry.
Six lucky winners will have their names drawn and announced the last week of school. So good luck and get ready to read and ride!

Updated Transportation Information
New Student ID Bus Pass Info.
We are very excited our school is implementing a new program to increase the safety of our students on our buses! If you've ever called the school and experienced the worry of not knowing if your child has gotten off at the correct stop, you will very much appreciate this new system!
This system allows us to know who is on the bus at all times and at which stop they exited. In the past if you called the school, our secretaries would call the bus to find out where the bus is at to check if it's just running late or if for some reason the student didn't get off. This requires the bus driver to pull over in a safe place off of the road since they cannot answer the cell phone while driving. This new computerized system will allow us to look up in the system exactly where the bus is on their route and if your child exited or is still riding the bus.
Here's how it works. Student ID Bus Passes utilizes a badge attached to a student’s backpack or a lanyard which communicates with the Bus Pass scanner located on the bus. Bus drivers will scan the badge as students enter and exit the bus instead of having to take paper pencil attendance!
If you have questions, concerns please don't hesitate to give us a call! 503-738-5161 or email us!
Secretaries:
Kirstin Whitlock, kwhitlock@seasidek12.org
Debbie Hillman, dhillman@seasidek12.org
Ingrid Quezada, iquezada@seasidek12.org
Principal, Juliann Wozniak, jwozniak@seasidek12.org
Assistant Principal, Jeremy Catt, jcatt@seasidek12.org
If you prefer to opt your bus rider out of this program please complete this form. It is important to note that students who opt-out of the electronic monitoring portion of the program will still need to show their Student ID Bus Pass to ride a district school bus. Their badge will just not have a active barcode to scan.
