A Message from Mr. Shepler
Dear Lockerman Middle School families,
Due to the rising COVID-19 metrics in the Caroline County community and after consultation with the Caroline County Health Department, Caroline County Public School students will return to virtual learning, beginning Monday, November 23, 2020.
During the closure, we will continue to monitor and review community health metrics and reassess to determine when and to what extent we may safely reopen for in-person learning. Reopening is also dependent upon our ability to safely and adequately staff schools, which has been challenging due the number of symptomatic and/or quarantined employees in addition to normal absences of staff. Here is the link to the press release.
On Monday, November 23, all students should log into Google Classroom and follow their current schedule. No changes will be made to the schedule. Food Services will continue with home delivery. All student meals continue to be free of charge. Families needing to begin home delivery or make a change to current service should call 410-479-3261.
All students who have been coming to the building due to lack of connectivity at home have been given a Kajeet Smartspot to assist with accessing virtual instruction during this period of time. Students were also offered additional supplies to use while they are not with us. If you have a need for additional supplies, please let us know. If your child did not receive a Kajeet Smartspot and you are in need of one, please let us know.
The Kajeet Smartspot has a limited amount of data that will be restored on the 11th of each month. It is of utmost importance that this device is only used for accessing virtual instruction. Use of the Kajeet Smartspot for streaming purposes unrelated to virtual instruction (movies, music, video games, etc) will use up all of the data. We will not be providing additional hotspots to students so please make sure that your child is disconnecting from the Kajeet Smartspot after the school day is over.
While we have no timeline for students to return back to the building, we are still here to support our LMS families in any way possible. Our plan for 6th grade return has now been put on hold but we are continuing to prepare in hopes that we can safely phase in those students in the near future. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teachers, counselor, or school administration if there is anything you need.
Thank you.
