State Testing went Great!
The students in our classrooms approached the STAAR tests this week with determination, a little nervousness and perhaps even some excitement. They have worked hard all year, learning to comprehend, write, and apply problem solving strategies. Taking these tests was their opportunity to show how their efforts had come to fruition. What we witnessed with our students this week, was an attitude of executing a challenge, and the thrill and satisfaction that comes with successfully completing this challenge was evident.
Not to us. As the teachers of these students, what matters most are the skills they have learned. Academically, it really can't be measured. Most significantly, the lifelong skills of perseverance, curiosity, patience, organization and a tenacious love of learning were obvious.
We are proud of our kids in everything they do.
Because a few parents have asked....
Results for 4th grade writing will come into district the Week of June 27th.
Results for 5th grade math and reading will come into district by May 7th or before. Parents will receive a paper copy of STAAR Student Report Card. Parents of students that do not pass the fifth grade first administration of reading and math will be contacted by phone before they receive paper copies of the STAAR Student Report Card. We will schedule a meeting to discuss your child's accelerated instruction plan to prepare your student for the retest in May.

Counselor Corner
Lago Vista ISD recognizes the importance of its role in helping learners develop and demonstrate good character qualities every day in order to become successful contributors in the 21st century. Parents and families are encouraged to support the District's efforts to teach good values and character by continuing these lessons and conversations at home.
Together, we can achieve our goals of creating a character education program that creates a culture of values for students, staff, and families and building a culture & climate where the demonstration of good character qualities are a daily expectation.
April’s character trait of the month is Integrity. Our monthly guidance lesson will support the character trait of integrity using The Empty Pot by Demi.

Leaders in Action
Leaders in Action did a fantastic job in supporting our Viking Character trait of the month! They performed an original skit to show real-life application of the importance of Trustworthiness. Leaders in Action planned, practiced and executed the skit for all 4th and 5th grade students. We will also perform skits during April (Integrity) and May (Gratitude).
