Mrs. Eske's Team: Building Leaders

4th Grade Newsletter * Week of October 3-7

From the Desk of Mrs. Eske:

October is going to be OUR month, Team Eske!! We're going to be "PAWS"itively amazing!! I just know it!! The past couple of weeks we have set our sights on 4's in specials, and what do you know?!?!? Friday marked ten "4's" in a row!!! In addition to our special area class success, our class attendance percentage is improving daily!

If we keep going like this..., I am certain that we can nab that attendance trophy for October! We can do it, Team Eske!!

In other news:

Parent Teacher Conferences begin on Monday, October 24th!! If you have not scheduled a time to meet with me, please do so as soon as possible!! There are still several ideal open spots!!:) Another scheduling opportunity will come home with your child on Monday!! Our District expects us to have 100% conference attendance, so I appreciate you helping me to get my schedule set, so that preparations can be made for your conference!!

Building LEADERS one subject at a time!!

Reading: This week I will be meeting with all of my guided reading groups! Each group will have a book that they will be reading at their instructional level. Reading instruction for small groups will focus on these central areas; vocabulary, fluency, accuracy, expression, comprehension, and writing about our reading. We will be provided with activities that allow us to improve our reading confidence before, during, and after the reading process.

Writing: In writing, we will begin our unit on personal narratives.

Math: We will review for our Ch. 2 Test on Monday! We will test on Tuesday, and begin Chapter 3: Multiplication and Division on Wednesday!!

Content: Last week in health we discussed safety at home and school. We worked in groups to select six safety topics that we felt were the most important to share with others. Then we created safety posters for those six topics. This week we will wrap up our short health unit on safety and begin learning about regions in social studies.

Friendly Reminders: Picture Day is Monday!! Pajama Day is Tuesday!!
