What a Lovely Month!
Parent Teacher Conferences
Make sure to discuss student progress with parents and the importance of being at school EVERYDAY. If a student is failing, please make sure parents are aware and that their child will be on your radar for possible retention.
Like I said last week, I am seeing great lessons where you are incorporating important lessons on black history. Keep it up! Each of you have received your famous African American for the assembly. If you did not receive a name in your mailbox, please come see me or shoot me an email and I'll let you know who you have. The assembly will be Thursday, Feb. 25 (time TBD). Each class will participate in this assembly.
Each class will get the chance to tell the other students about their famous African American. Your class can teach us in any way you would like. In the past, classes have sang a song, acted, made a book, made a timeline, etc. Be creative!
(I added a link to some Read Works lessons at the bottom)
Black History Month Literature Night is next Tuesday night (Feb. 16)!!
If you would like to help out at lit. night, let Mrs. Patton know. All help is welcome!
Parent Help
Below is a link to share with parents, during parent teacher conferences. The site is called Milestones and includes free online videos that are aimed at helping parents understand grade-level expectations in grades K-8. Milestones shows students demonstrating what success looks like in reading, writing and math, grade by grade.

February Character Trait
This month FSI's character trait is Respect.
"I treat others the way I wish to be treated."
THIS. IS. A. BIG. ONE.
- Below are links that can help bring different respect activities into the classroom.
- I am also putting two activities in the teachers lounge, if you are interested in making copies.
Don't forget to use those character cards! If you need more, please let me know!
