Dress Code - Over the course of the last two weeks, we have seen an increase in dress code violations. As a reminder, holes in pants/shorts must be at or below mid-thigh, shirts must completely cover the stomach and back with no midriff visible, and shorts and skirts should adhere to the approximately three inch inseam. Additionally, nose rings are not allowed. Shirts may not be worn which extend below the bottom hem of skirts or shorts. Head apparel, except for religious or medical reasons, must not be worn on campus. If you are in violation of the dress code, it will be addressed through the School Counseling office. Multiple dress code infractions will ultimately be handled by administration.
Spring is in the Air - As we work toward Spring Break, we will be having Spring Spirit Week. Make plans for Hawaiian Day on Monday, March 8th, Tie Dye Day on Tuesday, March 9th, and St. Patty's Green Day on Wednesday, March 10th. We can't wait to see how you spirited you dress!
Baseball - Congratulations to Kaine B. and Max C. from the 8th grade baseball team. Kaine pitched a no-hitter Tuesday, in a 9-1 victory over Alcoa. Max pitched a perfect game Wednesday, in an 18-0 win over Greenback. Great work guys!

Face coverings (masks or shields) are required on the buses. Administrators will work with bus drivers to promote and hold accountable this expectation. Masks will be supplied on the buses for student use. Students with health concerns will work with school administrators for exemption of this expectation.
Traditional Learners
Traditional Students Who Are Currently Quarantined - Traditional students who are currently quarantined, this is a reminder to check your email daily and to log into Canvas daily for each course to complete work. Teachers will take attendance through completed assignments and Canvas Analytics. Digital Learning requires engagement every day in order to stay current in all of your classes.
Digital Learners
Digital Learners Spring Materials Pick Up - Digital learner families can pick up their student's materials by driving through the student drop off line on Monday, March 22nd. Materials will be available from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m., and from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Please make every effort possible to pick up your student's materials so they do not fall behind in their classes.
Digital Attendance - Beginning on Monday, November 2nd, Digital Learners will be required to login to Canvas and complete the attendance link for each class, every day, by 10 am. By doing this, PowerSchool will generate a phone call that goes home each evening when students are marked absent. Families will then have a chance to address absences in real time. We are hopeful this change in our process will improve communication and support between Maryville Junior High School and families. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we adjust.
Digital Student Attendance Issues - Digital students, if you have been marked absent in one of your classes by mistake, please reach out to the teacher in that class to work through the attendance issue. As a reminder, attendance links must be complete by 10 a.m. each day in order to be counted present for a class.
Hybrid Learners
FAQs
A: The next opportunity to switch will be Spring Break. We must have your request to switch before noon, March 5th. This will allow your student to switch instruction type on March 22nd, upon returning from Spring Break. Families will have an additional opportunity to make a change at spring break. We are still requesting families to only make one instructional delivery change per year. Please call MJHS at (865)983-2070 to request a change.
Q: Can my student switch learning styles more than once?
A: As shared originally, after school starts, we must limit switching to one time only.
Q: What if we have an emergency situation and need an immediate change?
A: As always, if a student or family encounters circumstances that would require an immediate change of instruction, do not hesitate to contact MJHS at (865)983-2070.
Q: We do not have WiFi. Can I apply for a hotspot?
A: Families may apply for a hotspot by using their cell phone to access the application at, https://www.maryville-schools.org/central-office/technology/wi-fi-initiative.
Q: My digital student wants to take the test to earn their Learner's Permit. How do we request a 1010 Form? Please email chris.jenkins@maryville-schools.org to request a 1010 Form. Students must be passing their classes and have good attendance. 1010 Forms will be mailed to digital students. *Traditional students will continue to sign up for a 1010 Form in the Attendance Office.
