What's Happening This Week:
Hello Hawk families,
We hope you had a fun and enjoyable Halloween! Please drop off any unwanted candy at our front office, so we can use it in our PBIS store.
SAC Meeting: Please join our SAC meeting on Tuesday, November 7 at 8:30 am in the media center. SAC stands for Student Advisory Council - this group includes students, parents, teachers and community members. This group’s main responsibility is to help guide Hoover towards continued improvement.
Space Coast Basket Brigade (November 15) - This year we will be teaming up with the Space Coast Thanksgiving Basket Brigade to collect food items to create thanksgiving baskets for families in need throughout the county and also for students in transition.
We will be collecting until November 15th and the food will be then picked up and brought to VHS to create the baskets.
Sockober (October 17 - October 31): Thank you so much for all your contributions. Hoover students donated over 400 pairs of new socks, and Mrs. Yancey’s class won a pizza party. These socks will be donated to The Daily Bread, for the homeless.
Chorus, Band and Orchestra: Our music and chorus students are joining forces for an amazing fundraising opportunity. Instaraise will help our chorus students pay for their performance at SeaWorld, and our music students to buy new music and new instruments. https://instaraise.com/hooverms/music
Intramural Sports (Soccer): Hoover Intramural sports are starting on October 30, 2023. Practices will be every Monday and Wednesday morning 8:00 am - 9:00 am. All students are welcome! All you will need is to complete an athletic package. For more information and for a copy of the athletic package, please check out our flier!
Hoover Middle School Chorus Program: We are extremely excited to announce that our chorus program has been selected to perform at SeaWorld, on December 12, 2023. The cost per student is $126.50 per student and we are hoping to lower the costs to $70 per student. Please click here to learn how you can help us:

Digital Information Technology Students (DIT): I’m thrilled to share some exciting news with you—we’re headed to Walt Disney World® Resort to attend a Disney Imagination Campus Workshop on February 2, 2024!
From performing arts and humanities to STEAM and leadership, Disney Imagination Campus offers a wide range of workshops. We’ll be attending a course specifically tailored to your child’s grade and subject, touching on key learning objectives that we’re currently learning in class.
This once-in-a-lifetime learning experience will help them foster creativity, fuel personal growth, and uncover their own unique path to success.
While many of the details are still being figured out, I just wanted to keep you informed of this amazing opportunity and share with you the information I have at this time (See below).
· Date: 2/2/2024
· Cost of Admission and Transpiration: $0 (Our CTE funds will be covering the cost.)
· The workshop we are attending is “Leadership the Disney Way”.

Treasure Tracks by S. A. Rodriguez - Our amazing Media Specialist, Mrs. Woodbrey is organizing an event to all the students who read the book (by March 2024) and passes the AR quiz. Here is how you can help: (1) encourage your student to borrow a copy and participate and (b) help us get enough copies by using the link below to purchase more copies for Hoover Middle School!
Summary Treasure Tracks: Hurricane Irma is about to hit Florida and Twelve-year-old Fernando “Fin” joins his grandfather on a secret quest to find a long-lost treasure they believe was lost during the Labor Day hurricane of 1935. Fin is left to navigate the hunt alone when his grandfather becomes ill, and is in a race against time to locate the treasure.

Clubs and Organizations
1. Hoover Maker Club: Hoover’s Maker Club will have the first meeting on Wednesday, September 20th at 8:30 am in the media center. Students do not need to apply, but they do need to complete a parent/guardian permission form to participate. The MakerSpace is a creative, do-it-yourself space where students can gather to create, invent, and learn. Our school’s makerspace includes: 3D printers, electronics/circuits kits, craft supplies, Promethean board, Ozobots, Makey Makey, Ollies, Sphero, Finch robot 2.0, LEGOS, Duino kits, Meccanoid, Bloxels, Cubelets, K’NEX, paper machines, Google Goggles/VR, audio and video production, and publishing. Everyone is welcome!!

2. First Priority Club meets every Tuesday at 8:30 am, in room A-1. First Priority is a faith based club that meets to enjoy fellowship, share a Christian message and play fun games. 3. L3 Harris Stem Challenge: First meeting on Monday, October 9, 2023 in Ms. Earnst room. L3 Harris Stem Challenge is a club for students who are interested in participating in STEM-like challenges, including coding, 3D printing, breakout challenges and problem solving. Members will participate in challenges against other BPS schools in April. Only requirement is to bring a signed parental permission form. Form is provided below. 4. Cricut Cares Club - Meets every other Thursday at 8:45 am in Room A - 10 Mrs. Quintero's room. In the Cricut Cares Club, students will design and make cards, stickers, and other crafts using a Cricut craft machine. We will use our creativity to spread joy and positivity within our school community by making birthday cards for/students, stickers, banners, and more. 5. FEA (Future Educators of America) - Meets every other Tuesday at 8:30 AM in Room A - 10 Mrs. Quintero's room. A list of possible activities appropriate for the chapter (performing school and community service, fund-raising, marketing the chapter, and social functions) will be developed during our first few meetings. FEA is an undergraduate club that aims to equip future teachers with the skills they need to be successful. Students must bring a signed permission slip to participate. 7. Social Media – Mrs. Callie Schlabach, one of our English Language Arts teachers, sponsors the Social Media club. The purpose of the Social Media club is to create positive content and monitor engagement in our school’s Facebook page and Instagram. Everyone is welcome!
