Kirk Fenton News
13th September 2019
Dear Parents / Carers,
We have had a super week in school this week with lots going on. The children have spent the last two weeks learning about Roald Dahl and his wonderful stories. They are very excited about the exhibition of their work today so I hope you have been able to see it.
Cherry class started off the sporting calendar very well showing great respect and perseverance when they took part in a multisports event at Kellington Primary on Thursday. I was very proud of how they represented our school and the effort they put in with each of the events.
Our school value this term is thankfulness and in our worship and assemblies we have been thinking about all the lovely things we need to be thankful for. I am particularly thankful to the group of dads who have been working hard to build a new school library for us and converting the old library to a wellbeing room. They will be great when finished and a real asset for the school.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Karen Williams

We are having our Annual General Meeting to review the past year and vote in the new Friends committee for this academic year. Some of the committee intend to stand again, but we welcome new members and would like to keep a large committee to share the workload, so if you're interested in standing, please email us your nominations or hand us a note via the school office.
Christmas fair sub-committee
If you'd like to be involved in organising our lovely school Christmas Fair, please get in touch. We will have a mix of people on the committee, with different skills and varying experience of organising these events, so you can have as much input and as much support as you want. Why not just come along and tell us your ideas? Date to be confirmed - watch this space!

St Mary's
Alpha
Have you got questions about faith? Would you like a place to eat cake and discuss these?
St. Mary’s Kirk Fenton will be running the Alpha course from Monday 23rd September. Alpha will run every Monday evening for around 10 weeks (not including the half-term holiday) at Kirk Fenton Primary School, 7.30pm – 9.30pm.
Alpha is a series of sessions which explore the basics of the Christian faith. Session titles include “Who is Jesus?”, “How can I have faith?” and “Why and how do I pray?” and the sessions are suitable for everyone. The session starts with pudding / cakes, everyone listens to a brief talk and then you split into groups for a discussion. This is a great way to explore anything that you want to – no subject is out of bounds and you can ask anything you want.
If that wasn’t enough of a draw, Alpha will be launched by Warren Furman! Warren was Ace in the amazing 1990s ITV show Gladiators. If you’re not sure about committing, feel free to pop along to the first one on 23rd September and see what you think.
If you want to come along, contact Kate Biddlestone on 07403436160 so that we can make sure there’s enough cake…
And, if you’re not sure who Warren is, here’s a picture from his Gladiator days.
