Important Information
We are preparing 21st Century Learners. It is important that we teach students skills that will help them be competitive in the work force. Please remember that the late bell rings at 7:45 a.m. Students are marked tardy if they are not inside the classroom prior to the tardy bell ringing.
Inclement Weather
When inclement weather appears to threaten the safety of transporting students, a decision may be made to close school, to delay the school opening time, or to release students from classes earlier than usual. When such conditions appear, tune to a local radio or television station. Updates will also be listed on our school and district webpages. Telephone lines must be kept open for receiving calls giving special instructions or up-to-date weather information. Please make sure that your child and the school are aware of how your child is to go home if school is released early.

This is just a reminder that Lesslie Elementary is the site of a Little Free Library.
What is a Little Free Library?
A Little Free Library is a “take a book, return a book” free book exchange. Lesslie’s Little Free Library is located in the front of our school near the flagpole. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share. There is an understanding among Little Free Library users that real people are sharing their favorite books with their community.
How can I donate books to the Little Free Library?
If you or your child wants to donate a few books, simply send them to school with a note so we know they are for our Little Free Library.
Can anyone give or take books from Lesslie’s Little Free Library? Do I have to return the exact book that I take?
Anyone may contribute or take books. The more the merrier! If you take a book from the Little Free Library, you should return a book but you do not need to return the exact book. Little Free Library book exchanges function on the honor system; everyone contributes to ensure there are always quality books inside. This way, everyone wins!
During the months of November and December, our school is raising awareness of our Little Free Library. We are asking for your support in our efforts. There will be a day planned for your class to visit our Little Free Library as a class during one of their library class days. When it is your child’s day to visit, please allow him/her to bring a book to donate to our Little Free Library. Our students will then be able to experience the Little Free Library by leaving the book they are donating and then taking a book of their choosing from the Little Free Library. Once students have had a chance to experience this with Ms. Genco, please feel free to send in books at any time with your child and we will find a time for them to visit the Little Free Library with their books. We ask that you include a note so we know that the books you are sending in are intended for the Little Free Library and do not need to be returned. Please feel free to visit our Little Free Library at any time. This is not just for use during the school day or year. We hope you and your children enjoy reading these books!! J
From the Health Room
CLASSROOM SNACKS: Thanks to all parents for being understanding through our new process of outside foods coming into the school. I know that change is difficult, however this change is in the best interest for our students. As a reminder, all foods must be store bought, unopened with the label attached. If your child is in a classroom that has food allergies, you must notify the school nurse and your child's teacher at least 2 days prior to bringing in snacks. We encourage you to bring in healthy snacks or non-food treats.
PE Update
Students (K-5) in PE class are now beginning their Soccer Unit. This will include kicking, passing, and dribbling.
3-5th graders can now sign up for P.E. Club. Permission slips have already went home. For those that have already turned their form in, you will be getting another form letting you know the dates and which group you are in this year. The Red group will meet on the first Thursday of each month, and the Blue group will meet on the third Thursday of each month, starting in December. The last day to turn in permission forms is November 17.
