Important Instructional Levers and Look For:
WEEKLY Instructional LOOK-FORS:
- Instruction must be bell to bell.
- Vocabulary, vocabulary, vocabulary-- Vocabulary is one of our lowest scoring areas building wide- we must continuously ensure we are providing vocabulary rich classrooms.
- Writing across all content areas-- ensure that you plan for writing throughout your day. Everyone should have attended the Being a Writer PD as well and this curriculum should now be being implemented in the classroom.
- Connective Purpose Statements (I Can Statements and objectives) up daily in classrooms.
- Update your Master trackers for ELA and MATH on a daily basis.
- Checking for Understanding- We will be looking for both formal and informal CFU's. We expect to see some type of check for understanding every 8-10 minutes throughout a lesson.
Shout Outs!
Mr. Robinson and Mr. Cherry- for going on a home visit to provide our families with additional support.
All teachers: who took extra students while classes were without a sub or on a field trip.
3rd Grade Team: Holding a great PLC-- (one teacher taught the other teachers the strategy she was using to teach the current math standard)
Ms. Inman- making the entire 2nd grade team Pathways folders
Weekly Cultural LOOK-FORS:
- Ensure that you have your own classroom management system, in addition to the school wide systems.
- Use of Dojo points and ROAR Tickets to continue to positively reinforce behavior. We will hold end of the month class parties this week for each grade level with the most ROAR tickets-- the expectation is that all classes use both Dojo and ROAR tickets.
- Continue to incorporate the use of Restorative Practices daily.
- Please make sure that we are using the walkie-talkies for Level III offenses, nurse, or buddy room escorts. For minor infractions in the classroom setting (use your restorative practices, safe seat, buddy rooms) before calling for administration or sending students to the office. (No student will be sent to the office unless brought by an administrator).
