Message from the Superintendent

We have a long update this week, filled with many important details pertaining to our transition. Since our announcement, the data has continued to support the move to a more restrictive learning model. As of Thursday, the county number of cases per 10,000 was 49.35, and there were 213 additional positive cases in the 55033 zip code. In our buildings this week, the positive cases of COVID rose to 63, which is up 26 from a week ago. And, we ended last week with 263 students and 43 staff out due to COVID situations.

We have a school board meeting this Wednesday at 6PM which will be streamed through HCTV. Among other things, the school board will continue discussions around budget adjustments for the 2021-22 school year.

I want to extend a sincere thank you to all of our families and our community for the support they have shown to our staff and students during these unprecedented times.

School Meals Schedule

When your student begins distance learning, school meals will be delivered to bus stops based on the regular afternoon routes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The decision to align with afternoon bus routes provides the least disruption to student learning time, maintains consistency with transportation staff and for students and families.

Secondary Meal Delivery Schedule for the week of November 16:

  • Cohort A: pick up 3 meals (breakfast and lunch) on 11/16 and 2 meals (breakfast and lunch) on 11/19
  • Cohort B: pick up 3 meals (breakfast and lunch) on 11/17 and 2 meals (breakfast and lunch) on 11/20
  • Hastings Online Academy (HOA): pick up meals on 11/16 from door #24 of Hastings Middle School

More information will be coming about meals for the week of November 23rd.

Beginning November 30, meal deliveries on the afternoon bus route will follow this plan for all students:

  • Cohort A: pick up 3 meals (breakfast and lunch) each Monday. Pick up 2 meals (breakfast and lunch) each Thursday.
  • Cohort B: pick up 3 meals (breakfast and lunch) each Tuesday. Pick up 2 meals (breakfast and lunch) each Friday.

HOA families interested in meal delivery will need to fill out this form by November 15 . You will then be contacted with your bus stop location and meal drop off time. Beginning 11/23, HOA families will receive meals at their neighborhood bus stop. For students in the non-bus zones, courtesy routes will deliver meals. Click here to see the map of bus stops and times. If you need additional support in finding your child's bus stop, please call 651-480-7003 and staff will help you with that information.

If your child receives alternative transportation, they can pick up meals at their neighborhood bus stop.

If students miss their pick up time, you can stop by the District Office on your delivery day between 8 am – 10 am to pick up your bag(s) while supplies last. Please only take 1 bag per child 18 or younger of breakfast and lunch.

Because meals are intended for the days following delivery, if students need a meal prior to the first meal delivery, you can also pick up meals in front of the District Office between 8am - 10am.

This meal program, funded differently than our typical school year program, invites any child who is 18 or under to participate. There are not a limited number of meals available to our district and there are no family income requirements to participate. If your child is interested in eating a school meal, they should grab one!

Find elementary and secondary menus on our webpage or using the NutriSlice app.

In the midst of the shift to academic distance learning for all students in ISD 200, HHS athletics remain on as scheduled. Fall schedules will be completed, winter registration remains open, and winter sports are set to start on time in late November. Metro East Conference athletic directors continue to collaborate with local leadership teams and state health agencies to monitor and adjust plans for athletics as necessary. HHS remains committed to implementing all COVID mitigation protocols for education-based athletics with integrity and consistency. Any changes will be communicated directly to families as they arise. Stay tuned to the athletics website at and Twitter account @HHS_RaiderNews for updates

If you have questions related to any communications, please reach out to your child's school office or building principal.
