And we're off!

Dear Briones Families,

We are in the midst of our first week of school and the excitement is palpable across our community! I am so very proud of our staff, students, and families for all the care, time, and effort you are putting into making this distance learning experience the best it can be for our students.

We are also living with a variety of challenges as a result of this pandemic that will continue to impact us throughout the year. Please know that we are all on this educational journey together and we will need to support and lean on each other along the way.

This year will not be without its challenges, mistakes, and adjustments. Opening in a full-distance learning model is new to us all and we all have student success at the center of our work. I encourage you to stay in touch with your child's teachers, case managers, and me. Let us know how you are faring and what you need. Our staff and PTA are here to help!

Patience, empathy, and open communication will be important as we continue to design, analyze, and reflect on our programs. We are partners in this journey and we are ready!

PiE and PTA

We are SO fortunate to have support from PiE and PTA! Both of these organizations provide vital supports for our students, staff, and families!

PiE provides essential staffing including classroom aides, art teachers, music, and dance at Briones. These talented staff enrich each of our students' learning!

Our PTA provides the stuff and resources that support our students and families. This summer, our PTA worked tirelessly to provide support to our families and the giving continues! If you have not had a chance to go through the PTA Back-to-School packet there is still time!

Friday Fun Day is Back!

I cannot WAIT to welcome students back to Friday Fun Day!

When: Fridays starting on August 21, from 11:20-11:50!

Students can come and dance, listen to fun music, or just hang out to celebrate the end of the week together!

Each edition of the Buzz will be archived on the webpage for your reference and PTA has a webpage on our site as well. You can find our school calendar, information for kids, and a quick link to technology help at the top of the page. More to come!

• Informational Communications: You can expect to receive regular communications from your classroom teacher, the weekly Buzz communication from me on Wednesdays, and weekly PTA eNews and periodic announcements on Uptous.

• Email: Please allow 24 to 48 hours for teachers to respond to emails. We appreciate your patience. If you need to get in touch with your child's teacher for urgent matters please call the office at 650-856-0877 x 3352 or 3353 and we will get word to them.

Absences: Please notify your teacher and our clerk, Sharon Fisher (, if your child will not be absent.


Lunch Application Forms

Many families are experiencing reduced income due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Should you be interested in free or reduced lunch, applications are below. More information can be found here.

Families that received free or reduced lunch during the 2019-2020 school year need to reapply by September 24, 2020, to avoid being charged for meals.

If you child is eligible for free and/or reduced-price meals, he/she may also be eligible for other school program benefits such as free summer session, reduced fee for AP exams, summer camps etc. Please contact your student's school office for more information.

Lunch Pick-Up

PAUSD Food Services continues to offer lunch to ALL FAMILIES who participate in the school lunch program including paid, free, or reduced lunch. Parents will need your child's Student ID number and your lunch account will be charged accordingly.

The “drive-through”/"walk-through"/"bike-through" lunch pick-up for students occurs:

  • Monday: 10:45 am-1:00 pm and Tuesday through Friday: 10:30 am-12:10 pm at JLS Middle School.


If you are walking or biking, please keep at least six feet between each group.

Please do not come if you are sick.
