HALLOWEEN INFORMATION & GUIDELINES
Friday, October 29th
Parade 2:15 pm
Party: Following Parade
Note: Due to the parade and parties, our parking lot and front drive will be very congested at dismissal. Please remember to use a single lane for constant traffic flow. Drive through as far as you can before stopping to pick up your child. Drive slowly and be extra patient. Thank you all for your time and efforts in making our Halloween parade and parties a fun and safe activity.
Common Questions:
1. Can my child wear their costume to school?
We encourage children to bring costumes to school in a disposable bag (example: grocery sack), clearly marked with the child’s name. Costumes should not be worn to school. Students will put on costumes before the parade starts. Parents who attended the Parent Volunteer Party Planning Meeting and Rockwell staff will be available to assist younger students.
2. What kind of costumes can my child wear?
Wear costumes that your child can sit and move in during the party activities. We ask that the costumes be age appropriate and not hurt or embarrass fellow students. Please refrain from costumes that are gruesome. We ask that there not be make-up depicting blood and other suggestions of violence. *** If your child(ren) are in need of Halloween costumes please call the office at 715-8246. ***
3. Can my child bring anything that resembles a weapon?
No, please do not send these items to school. Anything resembling a weapon such as guns, swords, hatchets, etc. will be kept by the teacher and the parent will need to pick it up from the principal.
4. May I send extra treats?
We ask that the treats NOT be sent with your child. If that is something you want to do, please let the teacher know and she will have you contact the room parent. **ALL treats MUST be STORE bought, unopened and include an ingredient label on the package (as per District Guidelines.)**
5. Can parents and guardians come to help at the party?
For Preschool- Please see communication coming home from your child’s teacher. For all other grades K-5- only the designated room parents who attended the Parent Volunteer Party meeting and signed up to help may come to help in the classroom as there is not enough room in the classrooms for additional parents and/or siblings.
6. Can parents & guardians come to watch the parade? ALL parents and guardians are welcome to watch the parade... weather permitting.
7. Where can I watch the parade?
You can sit on the cement circular area in front of the school or along the cement walls weather permitting. Students will parade through this area.
8. What if it rains?
We will parade through classrooms as usual and then back to class. Unfortunately, if it rains, parents will not be able to watch the parade.
Children's Hospital Vaccine Message
Throughout the pandemic we have shared information from our medical community. In partnership with Children’s Hospital, we are passing along information from their physicians regarding the COVID-19 vaccination.
As a pediatrician and mom in your community, I know there is a lot of information out there about the COVID-19 vaccine. My goal is to ensure that you have the knowledge you need to make an informed decision to keep your family safe.
The COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective, and is the only way we are going to put an end to this pandemic. The FDA recently gave full approval of the COVID-19 vaccine for teens and adults, and we are hopeful they will approve the vaccine for children as young as 5 years old before the end of the year.
The vaccines continue to be monitored very closely. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that COVID-19 vaccines will have "the most intensive safety monitoring in U.S. history." I want to reiterate that even though the vaccine was developed quickly, it is safe. The process was sped up because we needed to get the pandemic under control quickly, but all the usual safety steps were followed, and tens of thousands of people participated in the clinical trials.
As a physician, I’ve watched firsthand how this devastating disease can cripple families. There is a way out of this pandemic, and that is through getting as many people vaccinated as possible. The vaccine not only decreases the risk of contracting the virus and transmitting it to others but prevents more than 90% of COVID-19 infections and most COVID-19 hospitalizations. It will help keep our community safe and allow us to get back to normal.
Children’s top priority is keeping children safe. I want nothing more than to see our children thriving, happy, and healthy again. Getting them vaccinated against COVID-19 is a step in the right direction, so please schedule your vaccine today.
Sincerely,
Dr. Melissa St. Germain
